Be careful.

Last year two guys tried this in New Hampshire. They were arrested for indecent exposure / lewdness.

While many "sideline lawyers" encouraged them to fight the charges, "oh, defend your rights to free expression, TAKE A STAND, yadayadayada", they had two options -

1) Fight the charges. If you lose the first round, you will have to register as a sex offender for life. You can appeal, but it's your (legal) nickel.

2) Cop a plea to disorderly conduct. Tell the judge -- "S**t, it was a mental lapse. I didn't know what I was thinking. What WAS I thinking? I'll never do THAT again....", pay the $200 fine and get the hell outa there.

They were offered the latter path and wisely took it.

And if you're arrested for riding your bike nude down the city streets, do not expect AANR, TNS, or the ACLU to come to your aid.

RE:Jason Lee
I dont know to what think too.
At one hand, I feel the obligation to impart and support this event at Riga as much as I can.
At other hand, most of members at our national Naturist Association are willing to not support this event within idea that naturists are PEACE SEEKERS not a protesters and public irritators/flashers/exhibionists.

Your comments... what I should decide??

In some places, it is Saturday, June 10. Consult your local WNBR organization.

Again, check with your local organizers as to what "level" of nudity is expected to be allowed and what the legal risks are. Probably, in most parts of Europe and Canada, full nudity will be allowed (other than bike helmet requirments). In the U.S., some places will be OK with full nudity, others not.

Except World Naked Bike Ride is on SUNDAY June 11th, 2006 not Saturday the 10th.

From the World Naked Bike Ride (http://www.worldnakedbikeride.org/) web site (WNBR web hosting provided by ClothesFree International, Inc. (http://clothesfree.com/))

"On March 12th and June 10th, 2006 cities across the world will experience the naked joy of the worlds largest naked protest against oil dependency and car culture in the history of humanity. It is time to stop indecent exposure to automobile emissions and to celebrate the power and individuality of our bodies! Naked Bicycle People Power!"

Let's hope the movie is a lot better than this very poor trailer, and that someone learns to spell.

Hi.. As one who organized a ride in Florida in 2005 we had to wear G-Strings. Check to see what the laws are about nudity in your area and check to see what you can get away with. If you are in a small town and can keep a eye on the police and keep them busy doing something else that would help. We had about 25 riders and about one police officer for each rider waiting to arrest us for nudity and the 2006 ride in march it was about the same with a paddy wagon following them. Also if you are planning on doing this ride don't expect to much help from anyone else as you won't get it, you'll end up doing all of it yourself with little support from anyone. It would be better to just ride with a few people, one or two, on some lone back road and take pictures showing that you did it. If it is there like it is in florida you will be arrested, but if you have a good lawyer and the money I would say go for it. We also didn't find alot of people who were interested in doing a nude bike ride so let me know how it goes..Cheers..NoodJuggler http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif

Forgot to say.. As hm0504 said.. Do not expect any help from anyone if you are arrested as you won't get it. Your on your own. ACLU won't even help. And you can or could be labeled as a sex offender depending on the laws in your area..

2.5 weeks away..

We are getting close.
If you are organising a naked bike ride regardless of how big or small it is please update our wiki with start time and location. Even if you are only expecting 2 participants in your local ride please update the wiki. Wikis are wonderful, great and incredible.

Updating the wiki is easy.
1) go to this web address http://wnbr.virishi.net/index.php?title=List_of_rides

2) click on edit

3) create an account

4) add your city to the list

5) add start time and start location

Obviously as both a long distace bike rider and a nudist neither act offends me but there is the public around us and where they out number us by many the rules of social 'etiquette' they maintain is what we also need to respect.

I really don't think the USA is ready for a mass naked bike ride yet. Some things take a long time to come about or change and this is one of them.

The best we can do isl promote nudity as a non sexual and non threatening healthy activity and see how it goes over time with our acceptance by the masses.

johny

Jason: OF COURSE that event.
P.S. movie I think is far not corresponding to a spirit of that event. Or it is??!

What do forum members think about the new WNBR ride in Washington, DC, this Sunday, the 11th? This is the first time for this ride, and it appears the organizers have secured a permit and cooperation of the police, provided everyone wears g-strings. Do you think this is enough so that everything will go over well in the nation's capitol? They will ride past the White House and the Capitol Building. So far the route is secret. The one thing organizers are still unsure about, is whether women may ride topless, within the law.

Any thoughts?

Its not a Naked Bike ride if you have G-Strings on!

Technically you are right, Gary, but that is not my point:

Is America ready for a Naked Bike Ride in Washington, DC, this Sunday? Are G-Strings adequate and necessary for preventing a whole new batch of arrests?

Is anyone here participating in a WNBR event; and if so, would they willingly participate in Washington, DC, pioneering a first time ride event?

WNBR, Not just a couple of U.S. Cities-

35 cities domestically are participating with naked bike rides.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems in 15 of those cities marked in red, NOTHING is happening!

It would be nice if a ride did happen Saturday in New York City, but according to this list it seems unlikely or at least unplanned.

That is why I am more interested in Washington. DC. It is being planned and published to an extent.

I'll ask again: Would anyone here dare to participate in such a newly organized ride? I am concerned that no one will talk about this.

gARTh,

Go to the main page, on the left hand column you will see under navigation:

Main Page
List of rides
FAQ's
RECENT CHANGES

click on recent changes for the latest changes, then click on "diff" or "hist" next to the city.

This should give you the lasted changes or status of that city.

Hope that helps,

Guys or Gals with G-Strings would break most cities nudity codes such as this major cities ordinance:

130-173.2. State of Nudity

The showing of the human male or female genitals, pubic area, vulva, anus, anal cleft or cleavage with less than a fully opaque covering; the showing of the female breast with a less than fully opaque covering of any part of the areola; or the showing of the human male genitals in a discernibly turgid state, even if completely and opaquely covered. (Adopted 4/04)

************************************************** ******************

So from above you could get cited for having a semi erection with kaki pants on if the outline showed looking at the pants leg.

Wearing a G-String depending how small the string part is would show a males the buttocks and part of the testicle sack from a rear view depending how he was positioned or on the bike.

So the Washington D.C. police or commission just doesn’t want men’s or women’s frontal view of any genitals or pubic hair. Some of the tiny women’s G-Strings do not hide their genitalia at all and is more suggestive than being naked completely.

So what’s Washington D.C. trying to prove when it's common place in larger Cities such as San Francisco, and Seattle several times as year to have approved nude events with up to 80,000 or more spectators and participants?
