I like the look of the new pages but they are difficult to browse as the threads and messages are not sorted by date. Are there any plans to do so?

I also hope that the news message will be first. The new forums are a bit hard to use the way they are now.

Good luck on getting them fixed.

You can set the order of the thread itself in your options panel. However, I have not yet found a way to set the order of the threads in a particular forum other than going to the bottom each time and manually setting the order. It doesn't remain that way though.

How do you set last post as first or top of the displayed page instead of having to scroll pages down to the last or most current post? I guess you would call that the "Sort Order" of the displayed posts, messages, replies, either ascending or descending as to date and time?

Is this a function of how SandMan CFF administrator sets up vBulletin, or a user display option?

For me, the last or most current post seems like it should be on top of the first page in a descending order of time and date, to the end or last page of the oldest post or message.

Has anyone figured this out in options or settings, or is this a function of the administrator in the set up of vBulletin display or sort order?

SandMan, can you comment on this ascending or descending "Sort Order" function, option, or setup of: [Last/most current, displaying order being first or at top of first page. [Being preferred]

Thanks

Am not at all happy with the viewing of thread posts. Is not at all like the old site and very difficult to follow new and current threads and posts. When the view is changed to todays and the order I want it is only temporary at best. All else is fine but this is just terrible! Maybe this will change in time but for now it is more than I can deal with.

I do agree that this new system is much more awkward when trying to view posts. Perhaps we need to come up with a list of suggestions so that this system can be modified to retain what was good about the old system. This assumes that this system can be modified and / or changed???

Does this format seem to be an improvement? Has any one been able to post photos?

Thanks a lot MJ KC, Your right on, I didn't scroll down far enough on "User CP" Options.
It worked just like I wanted, and I think most will opt for this preferred "Sort Option" [Last message/post on top or first] you solved and listed how users can set this option.

All of the same problems. Hope they keep working on it and make things better.

At this point I like the old forums better.

And to think I thought I just did not know what I was doing.

This happens at work also. When they come in with a better system it is always trouble for awhile.

it took me some time to get everything figured out, but once you do, it's not as bad as people think. Patience and just take some time to play around and familiarize yourself with the changes.

It was sorting by date, but someone is messing with my settings. I'll look through the logs to see who it could be.

I fixed the sorting problem. It should be much easier to view and follow threads now.

One thing I'm seeing is this, the threads in a given forum are now sorted by newest first, which is what I want and have set my options for. But then the individual posts within a given thread seem to be posted the same way. The net result of that is that the newest post is the first one on page 1. Is there anyway to set an option that has the threads are listed by newest first and then the individual posts within a given thread listed chronologically so that the newest post for a given thread is the last post on the last page of that thread?

Rich

Edited after the fact: Forget it, I set the posts to show themselves chronologically and found that everything is as it was in the old software. The threads with the newest posts are listed first in a given forum and within a given thread the posts are shown chronologically.

Perhaps this is a case of fixing what is not broken! I assume there was a reason to tamper with the format that we all seem to have liked?

Rich just how did you get the settings to show chronological?

I get the newest first no matter how I set it to run?

It would be nice to be able to follow a thread like we could in the old forum.

As previously posted in this thread, the "Sort Order" newest post/message displayed on top or at the bottom of the pages is a user adjustable option from the left side tabs at the top of most pages "User CP" which is "User Control Panel".

Thanks to "MC KC" post in this thread, here is how to adjust your display for newest message/post to be on top or the first page. To me, why should one have to scroll through pages and pages to the bottom to see the newest or current post.

Messages are sorted in exactly the same way they were on the old forums. In each room/forum posts are sorted from oldest (last) to newest (first) so that newest posts show up on the top of the list. When you are reading a thread, it is in order of first (top) to last (bottom). This is how it was on the old site and this was not changed. However, users can set personal viewing preferences.

I'm glad they changed it. The old site was too slow for my phone line connection.

I'm not getting any pictures though. I get the avatars.

Anyone know what to do to get pictures?
