If you use the "Enhanced Interface "WYSIWYG" Editing option and pane [as pictured below] you will see in the upper right hand column a "ABC with a check icon" If you click on this icon vBulliten will check to see if you have the free program "IE-Spell Check" installed, If not you will be directed to the following download and install link for "IE-Spell Check"

Link: http://www.iespell.com/

Once installed vBulliten will launch "IE-Spell Check" by clicking on the "ABC/check mark icon"

vBulliten is all ready set up to launch this easy, fast, and efficient program to spell check on the fly, or in any Windows Internet Explorer window, text form, etc. by highlighting, right clicking, and selecting "IE-Spell Check, or by going to the tools tab or task bar in Internet Explorer.

See image below of the vBulliten enhanced interface "WYSIWYG" Editing window with the "ABC check" icon in the upper right hand column, and the editing mode or options selection [Enhanced Editing].

Enjoy, It's easy to download, install, for fast and automatic spell checking on the fly without leaving the vBulliten compose window pane.

The "IE-Spell Check" add on for vBulliten is very easy to implement and use, and is an excellent free program for vBulletin and any Windows Internet Explorer page, form, or fill in where text is entered.

I read a post/thread where I believe "Naturist Mark" said he thought it messed up his High Speed connection, registry, and a couple of others saying it was difficult and not necessary. I cannot find the posts again referring to the vBulliten "IE-Spell Check" add on, but I have used this program for several years without any problems, and just clicked on the "ABC check mark icon" in the compose window and it downloaded and installed automatically, and started working fine as soon as I clicked on the "ABC check-mark"

Mark I think your hiccup in your system was coincidental and has not much to do with this add on. You can un-install "IE-Spell check" by "Start/control panel/add-remove programs and delete. If your connection, and registry or system is still messed up, do a restore to a day or so back when everything was working OK.

I have installed the vBulliten spell check add on to two networked desktops, and wireless Lap top without a hint of any problems. Its extremely easy to use with one click, its fast, complete, and as good as Word's spell check without copying and pasting or going out of the VBulliten compose/edit window.

F.Y.I. and use

I'll be installing a spell checker plugin on the forums within the next week or two. This will work on all browsers and there is no need to install it on your computer as it will be running on the server.

Sandman, I've seen a lot of posts, about the new forum format. Let me just say that it must have taken a lot of your time and effort to transfer and set up this board. I took me a little time to find all the option settings for this board, but now that I have it set up to my liking - WOW...what an improvement from the previous forum.
Thanks for all your hard work and bringing us this forum. Thought it might be nice for you to hear some positive feedback.

PS - A nice feature of this new site is the "MARK FORUMS READ" in the Quick Link options. After I read all the recent posts, then I click this and only the new posts show when you select "New Posts" - great feature - thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you like the new software. I am very happy with it. Based on the PM's I have received, feedback in the forums and phone conversations I have had with members, it seems that most people are happy with the change. I will continue to add useful plugins and features to the site. But overall, it looks like we'll be staying with vBulletin for a long, long time.

I work in our IT department and have found that the Google Spell-check and the IE Spell-check add-ons caused problems when viewing pages with lots of text. We had to disable the add-on from users machines when they were viewing large pages (reports) with lots of text.

When they tried to open the large pages, their system would freeze, IE would freeze, or IE would only display part of the page. We finally determined that the spell check program was trying to spell check the whole thing and was causing system problems.

It was a bugger to figure out what was causing it.

My suggestion is to turn it off if you aren't using it because it can cause browsing problems. Otherwise, it's a good tool if you are prone to toypos. :)
