Anyone have a suggestion for Spam filters/blockers?

I use Yahoo mail and their spam filter/blocker is pretty good. A few get through, but most of them are appropriately put into the spam folder.

I have found some rather if not THE biggest name in some software have produces spam filters or blockers that are not only useless but the all but bring the computer to a stop.
I had one I paid $39 for and had to uninstall it to make anything else work. There is a setting in there and one in the registry that had to be altered but in my humble opinion any such work needed to be done by the software up front and first and then not hinder the computer at all at any time while it does what it was advertised to do.
The Defender by Microsoft seems to work and not mess the computer up on XP and Adaware does ok but has to be launched and updated allot. Other than killing all those individuals that create spam and such there is not much good defense out there.
Vista is supposed to be far more immune to this activity but I won't install Vista where it has other problems, some of which are resource gouging, non compatability with some hardware and software and other such new product issues that have yet to be resolved.
Good luck with this.

I am very happy with Vista. I use redirect all of my email to my gmail account. I rarely get spam. Also, I suggest using Firefox instead of IE. Firefox does great at stopping popups.

I have Vista on my laptop and XP pro on my desk top. Vista has given me ZERO problems. In fact I like it better....I am not hearing much complaint from any Vista users

Same here. No complaints about Vista. I do suggest a clean install rather than the upgrade option. A clean install gets rid of all traces of XP. I first did an upgrade so that I didn't have to reinstall all of my software. I had a few problems, so I did a fresh install. Now I have zero problems.
Just like some people were not happy to see this site upgrade, they will not be happy about a change in their OS. I am willing to bet that the Vista users on this site love the new upgraded forums. The people that are not willing to move to Vista are probably the ones that were not happy with this site upgrade. LOL Some people just don't like change.

You are correct! There are those that do not like change at all and resist change of any kind. I like to see what the change will do and then will jump on board if the change is good.
I had W95 on my computer running less than 2 hours after it was released for sale in the stores. '98 took a bit to be sure it was working and then I got it and was happy. The second version was installed a bit later when it was available.
I never did install meliniuum. That was a great idea. That was a flop. I got W2K installed when that proved out and XP when that had been around a couple months.
Yet I still do not have anything in focus for Vista. Vista has removed some functions I use allot and one of those functions is the Command box which allows one to perform functions absent of the OS. Vista has been setup so any such function, if you can do it, will be thru the OS. This is partly for the security matrix in the algorithem.
Vista will come out with a newer version in 2008 so will wait till that comes out to see if it has such functionality. Many big businesses will not buy new computers with Vista on it. THey just do not want it. This has hurt both sales of new computers and OSs.
Bottom line is big business with the $$ wil still run the show, not Bill Gates. He only leads the way and he hit a rock on this one. Not a hole like Meliniuum, but only a rock.

Not sure where you get your info, but I have Vista and Vista does have a command box. It is integrated with the search function. I have used it to re enable the Hibernation mode. In fact, you can do more with the Vista command prompt than you were able to do with XP. They are coming out with Service Pack 1 in 2008, but not a new version of Vista.
