lately I've noticed that the number of new topics has gone down a bit so I thought I would make a topic where anyone who had a veuage idea of any possibility of a topic and everyone can help bring it together. I will try one I have been thinking about lately. Everyone knows that the most important thing in a battle is the element of suprise, thats why I think a nudist devision of the army would be a great idea. Very few things are as suprising as seeing a whole platoon of the army charging towards you buck naked. any way that was just a thought http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/blush.gif

This topic/thread would be more appropriate in general forums "Fun & Humor"
Buck naked? No way; they would have to wear combat boots, and helmet, and a loaded down belt loop, + back pack, plus weapons. Being naked would expose them as a visual target against the background, and they would stick out like a sore thumb [No pun intended]

In the first world war, the scottish regiments went to war in kilts and with nothing worn below.
The Germans called them the Devils in skirts.
So they were surprised when they did see an army charging towards them sort of naked.
In Scotland, the Picts wore nothing but blue paint when thay attacked the Romans invading Britain. Hence the old saying "Get out the wode, the Romans are coming."

Rebecca, are you a Monty Python fan by any chance?
Would the troops have camouflage tans? Military grade sunscreen?
Dress Parade with a chest full of combat ribbons would be hell.
Be my luck to get stationed at McMurdo.
At least I wouldn't have to be worried about any more write-ups for being out of uniform.

Of course, in the army, privates are always on parade.

It sort of puts a new light into the phrases:
- A surprise corporate takeover
- A surprise move by a politician
- A surprise 40th birthday
- If you go into the woods to day your in for a big surprise
- Taking the TV audience by surprise
- A surprise visit by the in-laws
- A surprise test at school
- A surprise ending at the big game!

New Topic topic!
From the Department of Redundency Department: a place to put all your redundencies that you keep coming across. Things like ATM machine and PIN number
So, in honour of Monty Python:
There has been a number of comments on this thread, so its not exactly new anymore.
Perhaps, someone should start a new thread, entitled "New, new, topic, topic".

Kind of like around here: There is an area of Chesapeake called Great Bridge. Of course, there is a bridge in the area called the Great Bridge Bridge. That bridge got old so they built a new and better one. One of the suggestions that a local newspaper colummnist suggested for the new bridge was: the Great Great Bridge Bridge http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif

I've seen the street signs for all of the following South Carolina:
Highway 11
Old Highway 11
Old Old Highway 11
I need to snap a photo of that third one someday.
