Just wondering if anyone knows of any nude scuba groups that offer certification dives. I was planning on taking a scuba course here in New England but want to do the cert. dive in FL. I have emailed a one of the groups but never got a response. Any help would be appreciated.

Check out NudeCrewz or BareBoating. The have links to where you can go, must of the ones I have seen are down in Florida. I have not been able to do the nude scuba yet- can't find any dive buddies that want to.

Try e mailing them again. There are a couple of groups here in florida but I’m not current on who is still active. Nude scuba like all things nude is great but does require some precautions. Is very easy to scrape sensitive areas and do have to watch about feeding fish interested in certain parts. There use to be a lot more options as to where you could dive or snorkel nude but is pretty much now limited to your own boat or a dive boat that caters to nudists. Will take some effort to find them but will be well worth the effort! Don’t forget the sunscreen if you are not use to this sun either!

Northern Coast Aquasports in the Dominican Republic will allow nude diving when going out of Rio San Juan. I suspect Sosua (their main area) is too "busy" to allow it. They go out to Caliente Caribe (formerly known as Eden Bay) to do resort certification courses. This is how I got started in diving.

I've always been curious about scuba diving naked. You'd certainly need pretty warm water. If anyone does go, I'd love to hear about how it went.

Sorobon resort in Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles, used to do nude scuba dive tours, but their website no longer indicates scuba as an activity.

That, I knew, because my best friend and his wife visited there on their honeymoon some 20 years ago, but they had already booked themselves into another place there.

I love scuba diving. But I'm afraid to do it nude. The fish disrespect personal space and tend to go after things that dangle. If that fish happens to be a barracuda....perish the thought.

I go nude scuba or snorkeling whenever I can. Best way I’ve found is to use a kayak which is easy to take along, provides access to remote locations, makes drift diving a snap and can go on my schedule rather than the dive boat. I usually take along a g string or pouch just in case I need to put on a little protection from to friendly of fish but usually it’s easy to scare them away and remain bare.

There is a dive center in Ohio (USA) that specializes in nude diving. The owner is a PADI Course Director, and so he even trains instructors. The best part is he and his wife are both naturists. They eventually plan to offer travel as part of their services, but say they can refer you to people they work with until they do. Check out their website and contact them for any questions. Hope it will help answer some of your questions

I love being nude, and I love swimming nude. I scuba, but its too bad its just too cold to do so most of the time even in Southern California. Also, it can be a safety factor, as you indicate, you can get knocked about in rough water and end up a bit cut up or hurt (not that this is the norm, its not). I have been on dive boats where people went nude or topless after, but still wore wet suits to dive around my area. Have to admit, diving nude would be so fun!

Because of the earth's rotation and major ocean currents, the water is much colder on the West Coast than on the East. On the West Coast, water currents come DOWN from the north, bringing cold water along the coast. Along the East Coast, water currents go UP from the south, bringing warm water along the coast. I'm afraid that if you want to dive nude, it would be a good idea to plan a warm water trip! ;)

OK, so being a former diver, I wonder what its like diving nude (without a wet suit) and going through a thermocline...

Going through the themocline in Michigan would not be good- the "shrink factor" is really high. Love to go scuba nude in the Caribbean if had the change.

Well some thermo clines are very mild which are no big deal and others are like dropping into the an artic . A good way to avoid those sudden changes is to dangle one hand below you when you suspect you are approaching a thermo cline. A neat trick to find those really cold layers before you hit one with your whole body. I’ve hit some that made me want to swallow my regulator With a wet suit on so just imagine hitting one of those nude.

You are so right about hitting a thermocline. Ive done it a few times
just wearing my bikini. Instant brain freeze. Ive learned to be more careful.

I'm not certified for scuba, but we alway do lots of snorkeling when we go to the Bahamas. It's an incredibly wonderful feeling to be gliding through the water, totally nude, like you're in a giant fish tank!

This is me on our first trip a few years ago.

Enjoy!

Great shots jandatxnude. Who took them and with what kind of camera? No one says you have to be on scuba to have a blast. A lot of the action happens in the shallowest 20-30 feet anyway. After all, the deeper you go the more light and color you lose, and the colder it gets. Something to keep in mind if you are going Au Naturel! :D

scubare,

That shot was from our first trip. My wife took the picture. We just had a disposable waterproof camera for that one. Since then we have a newer digital camera, Canon A540, and I bought the underwater housing for it.

Here's a shot of me from last year, with that camera. My daughter took that one.

You're right about the color at greater depths. Even with this shot, I did color correct it, but mostly it was for contrast.

Enjoy,
