View Full Version : Naked when no one else is ?

I was in Munich recently and, having sounded it out on this site, went along to the magnificent Therme Erding. There are 2 sides, one nude, one not. Obviously I wanted the nude one.

The changing room was huge, unisex but with long corridors off which there were small changing cubicles with doors on the other side opening on to rows of lockers. I passed through, undressed, put my towel round my neck and wandered off, naked. So I was rather shocked to almost bump into a woman, in a bikini. Was I on the right side ? Would I be arrested ? So the towel quickly went on, until I got to the entrance to the shower room. There were separate male and female rooms (which again made me wonder if this was naturist) but at least once inside everyone was naked. Although rather than a large shower area there were individual cubicles giving a degree of, though not absolute, privacy.

I showered and headed off, naked again, to the main area. And no one else was naked - and there were a lot of people around. So towel on and back to the changing area where, after trying to speak to someone who spoke no English, I was assured that it was FKK. So back in, towel on, but soon I was in the sauna and everyone was indeed naked.

People did wear towels/robes to walk around but in the saunas and pools everyone was naked. I did however see some costumes, on people walking around - it may be that they had been on the non naturist side (though why anyone would want to do so is beyond me). There was also a group of three youths, who were blatantly not naturists wearing knee length shorts in the showers. Loud, rude and obviouosly there to gawk, I am not sure how they were dealt with but I only saw them once.

Would be interested to hear if anyone else has ever gone naked somewhere, only to wonder if they were in the right place as no one else was bare ?

There are 2 sides, one nude, one not.Segregation? Good!

I was assured that it was FKK.

I thought FKK was now associated with German sauna-based prostitution services?

I did however see some costumes, on people walking around - it may be that they had been on the non naturist side (though why anyone would want to do so is beyond me). It's not beyond me. Horses for courses. :)

Segregation is good, it it keeps people like Stu out, though it seems he would be happy to wander around a naturist area in his shorts !

However his comment FKK = prostitution really shows what a strange little deviant this man is (if there were any doubt about it). Not sure how he made the link though I would suggest that he may well be a supporter of the latter as he clearly is not a supporter of former.

I have only once been to a naturist area - clothes-optional to be precise - and that was at the behest of people here.

YOU mentioned FKK. I didn't know what you were talking about and I thought I ought to find out. So I Googled it and the first British entry was this one:

http://www.fkktour.com/

Yup! A German site called "FKK Sauna Club Tours" which takes British tourists to meet German prostitutes in saunas. :D

Well now you know. :D I suppose an apology is too much to expect?

If you search for 'nudism' then the first result is purenudism.com which seems a site full of nude photos of young women, thus far from being representitive of nudism in general.

First I typed into Google "FKK" but that came back with zillions! So I narrowed my search by putting "FKK" and "sauna" (because Xen had mentioned saunas), and this came up at the top:

http://www.fkktour.com/

- and it was in English so I read it:

German FKK Sauna clubs feature attractive women in their physical prime (18-30's). Women from all over the world work at the German FKK Sauna clubs, giving the customer a choice from many nationalites. Some German FKK Sauna clubs feature a single nationality and cater to a specific taste; for example, Asian.) The larger German FKK Sauna clubs may have up to 60 women working on a given day. Most smaller German FKK Sauna clubs also offer a good-sized selection. A guest is bound to find someone who appeals to him. Most German FKK Sauna clubs maintain strict standards for service (French kissing and condomless oral are standard). There are few boundaries. A guest can expect to be treated like a long-time lover, and not just another customer.

I'd never heard of FKK, and this was right at the top of the list on Google. It's not unreasonable, surely, to conclude that there is some connection between FKK and prostitution.

There are 2 sides, one nude, one not.

That is a misunderstanding: one side IS not nude, it only means that you are allowed to wear nothing (but a towel) if you would like so. Just be yourself. BTW, this vary enourmously from one facility to the other, and if you want to have a as naturist-as-possible experience you need to trawl the web to get the best info and be sure.

Indeed I am all in favour of segregation too, it helps to keep the moaners out.

The first link that pops up if you google for fkk is the INF-youth naturist site,
http://www.fkk-jugend.com/english/

Want to get a proper idea of "real naturism" (yes, also fkk) (Stu be warned for your health), check this: http://tinyurl.com/2hkzn5

Perhaps given that it's a German thing, trusting the first English site mightn't be the best thing. The most 'official' looking German page amongst the first results seems much better, and if you can't read another language then just run the url through http://babelfish.altavista.com/

Glad you're in favour of segregation - that way we won't have any reason to moan, will we?

I'm sure you're right. Regrettably, I don't speak German so I had to rely upon what the British site said about the FKK.

I can't quite understand how a legitimate nudist organisation could let itself be associated with prostitution - even if that association is erroneous. Can you imagine British Naturism's attitude if that happened over here? Maybe it's time for the FKK to think about changing its name.

There are always going to be people who do things differently. There are supposed nudist/naturist resorts I've heard of in the US who call themselves family friendly but are havens for swingers and the like. Fair enough if people want things like that - in a resort where you can expect it, fair enough - but not if they call themselves nudist venues.

FKK, or Freikoerperkultur, (no I don't have umlauts on my keyboard) originally meant "free body culture", and in much of Europe still carriers that meaning with no sexual connotation whatsoever. It is sad to see that some are using the FKK acronym to refer to activities that are not naturist in spirit.

I have never been in a situation where I was the only nude person, but I have been in a number of situations in clothing-optional areas where nude folk were in the minority. It can be an intimidating experience, but as long as everybody respects each other, we can be free to be ourselves, and perhaps even inspire someone else to have the courage to join us if so moved.

Xen,
I had nearly the same thing happen to me, only it was in Berlin at the Blub. They have two sides in the Blub as well--a large, textile, indoor water park complete with giant wave pool and an FKK side with several different types of saunas, cold water plunge, steamroom, outdoor sunning area and a coffee and snack bar. When I first went to the Blub, I didn't know about the FKK side so I went to the textile side's changing rooms. The first thing that I noticed was a common changing area. Men and women were both changing in this area and only the showers were marked "D" for Damen (ladies) and "H" for Herren. At the time, I was still learning German and saw a man come out of the D side. So, I followed suit and went into the wrong side. After coming out of the shower, I noticed only women . Some were dressed in bikinis, some weren't, but none of them said anything to me, nor did they even care that I was there.
Later, I found that even the textile side of the Blub has a sauna as well. Once I went inside, I saw that everyone was nude so I did likewise. One lady who spoke a little English then told me about the FKK side. I should probably note that this turned out to be my first social nudist experience.
Let me assure everyone that all the FKK signs were clearly posted and that there was absolutely no hanky-panky going on. I don't know about these FKK/prostitution trips, but it sounds more like a prostitution ring that's trying to capitalize on nudism, not the other way around. As for me being nude around others who weren't, these people were Germans, and they're very progressive when it comes to nudism in general. After all, the last 100 years of the nudist movement can trace its roots back to Germany.

That's right, you are in the wrong section.
