View Full Version : Cap d'Agde
I read somewhere that Cap d'Agde has reintroduced the "naturist police" as perverts and gawkers wearing clothes were becoming too common and puting people of going nude. Is this true, has anyone any experience of this ?

The local civil police patrol the area all year round, more so during the French school holidays when families are around, although when I was there at the beginning of September and later at the end of the month there were no police to be seen.
Cap d'Adge is quite a nice place to go if you like lots of activities and crowds,I much prefer a quieter life when on holiday, and nice though it was to see Cap d'Adge for the first time this year I wouldn't rush back unless I was arranging to meet friends (As I did this year.), if you want the freedom with less commercialism why not try Vera Playa in Spain, very little night life in the naturist quarter but great for a relaxing holiday.
Don't believe all the rumours you hear about Cap d'Adge, please go at least once in your life and make up your own mind, and I would definately recommend the CHM Rene Oltra (http://www.chm-reneoltra.fr/htm_en/navig.html) site at Cap d'Adge for camping or their excellent chalet style accommodation and the clean friendly and pleasant atmosphere that exists there.

Several years ago we remember seeing a pair of very attractive topless beach patrol women around 20-21 who's only apparent job it was to walk the beach and assure that Cap d' Agde remained a nude beach and not a clothed voyeur one. At the time I remember thinking to myself "what a wonderful psychological tool" these young French women were. After all, what man would decline an invitation to shed his swim trunks in the such a pleasing situation. We must have passed them over a dozen times over the two weeks and we never saw them having to enforce their role as clothing police.
To be sure there is a very much stronger-and male-police presence if needed. The guard shack is still atop the hill next to the dunes and the restaurant at the far end where things get frisky.
Some contacts for next year when things warm up:

Yes have been there when the police patrol was on duty but that is to stop people getting up to things in the dunes. Actually I don't think it matters what peole get up to when no one else can see them (without looking them out) what is far more annoying are people who sit around clothed and whose motives must be questioned.
I was there once in spring when it was too chilly to sit on the beach, we were able to sit behind some dunes but everyday there were some perverts and sadly other than walking by kicking sand there was very little that could be done.

Pretty much the same as you get on any other nude beach then, but at least they sort out the iffy characters at Cap d'Adge and leave to nudists alone to get on with their vacation. The far end of the beach where the additional things go on at the end of the season you can expect to be pestered, but if you stay down near the resort where all the facilities are you are unlikely to be bothered by anyone, its just like a textile keeping away from the nudist beach if he thinks he may be disturbed at seeing naked people, don't go there and you won't be offended, but don't let that put you off going to Cap d'Adge it has a lot to offer the serious nudist.
There are several nudist resorts in the south of France, why not consider a week at Cap d'Adge and a week at La Grande Cosse just along the coast, also take in a bit of France while you're there, its a beautiful part of the country.

Problem was that it was too cold to be out on the beach so we had to be sheltered - there was nothing "going on" but this did not stop fully clothed perverts lurking in the bushes.
As for what does "go on" on the beach I have been walking along the beach on the evening when the police have gone off patrol and seen not only a crowd of naked folk looking at action but also lots of guys running onto the beach- fully clothed - to watch. If the couples want to get up to something, let them but the watchers should at least have the decency to strip !
