Please vote to express your opinion on this. It has been said that there is "little interest" in having the chat room up and running again.

I don't know where that was said... I always enjoyed it, just logged in at irregular hours but that did not matter, met some really interesting people!

Apparently there has been some misuse/abuse, but after the rules were tighened it seemed wo work just fine. Then they changed the sw and I never got it to work anymore. And now it is gone. As there are many other things in the current version of the CFF sw. D@mn if we could go back to the old version (from about 1-2yrs ago when everything still worked and the layout was much more pleasing) I would even pay for it.

I'd probably like it and use it if I could just get it to work in the first place.

I received a response to one of my previous posts (from one of the admins?) stating that there was little interest in the chat room and that it has been placed on the back burner. As "my burner" keeps simering over this, I thought I would put this poll out to the members to see how they feel. I personally miss the many virtual friends that I had in the chat room.

I like the chat room. Ive met a lot of really nice people there and they have been really helpful in my search for a good resort or somewhere where i can go swimming nude. Ive found several resorts faitry close by that i want to try this summer.

How come I've never seen it?

The chat room was not "brought over" when the web site was revamped awhile back. It used to be a popular feature on the "old" web site. That is the reason for this poll to see if there remains an interest in having the chat room returned to the site.

Yes, I agree that having a chatroom would be a good thing to have for those of us to pop in and have realtime chatting. Maybe it would be enhanced if you could not whisper or im in the chatroom which is where I think the problems if any would come from.

I think a chat room would be a great addition.

No chat room for me, everytime I went there, there was nobody.

No chat room for me, everytime I went there, there was nobody.

That was a more often heard complaint, but obviously SOMEONE must be the first one!! I just hang on there a while and then others would join in after a while - if I had not stayed they would probably have just turned away again too.

Also, certain times (and days) were far more popular then others, and it could take a while
to find out. 5am in the morning in the US maybe ok if you are in Australia but not good in the US ;-) Once I figured out the more popular times it was OK, there were always people joining in.

a chat room that lists time zones around the world

46 people or 60% already replied YES. Only a minority definitively doesn't want a chat room (I wonder why, it would be useful to get some contra-arguments ("I'don't use it" doesn't count!).

To me this seems a very clear demand for the chat functionality to return. There may never have been 46 people at one and the same time in the chat room (the record was probably around a dozen or so), but with 40-50 potential users we are back on a track.

Now when do we get it??? ;-)

I joined the forum after the chat feature was already done away with, but I enjoy chat rooms in general. This would be an especially good one I think because of the quality of people that I have come across in the posts.

I voted yes. Even though it was rarely used before, it could be a nice feature.

i enjoyed talking on the chat rooms because i got to meet members that i wouldn't ordinarily get the opportunity to talk to.

We should have the chat room feature again.
It was a nice place to meet and talk with fellow nudists around the world.
Several friends there do not post on the forums and others rarely do or did.

Also, the trolls who seem to rear their nasty noggins every so often here on the forums never went to the chat room, which made for some great discussions on everything. With civility and decorum to boot.
I think the "real time" of the chat room frightened them.

So, guys, when are getting the chat room back?!

I'm the 100th person to vote... and precisely 63% want the chat back (including me). Granted, I haven't been in there for a very long time... but it's nice to have the option of dropping in...

I'm vote #101 and 64 of us say YES and only 7 say NO. The other 30 don't care one way or the other.

A live chat room would be a nice addition to the forums.:cheering:

The previous CFF public chat room was abused in the Private Chat area and function. Abuse continued even after the Private Chat function was inhibited.

Until CFI/CFF can enable and enforce the many suggestions of filtering out and blocking underage existing members brought over in the transition, current and new registrants, the chat room functions will still be used by some for a way to meet, pass on contact, hookup, and personal information enough to meet up outside of CFF and CFI for explicit communications and media not allowed by the TOS or CFI or places where some can be assured of not being monitored.

Until these privacy, security, and underage use concerns can be implemented and function, I think its unwise and a liability to CFI to have CFF chat rooms monitored or not, and or voice and video, and media functions active in chat rooms.

I never experienced that abuse although I am sure it happened.
The only time I was asked to go to 'Private Chat' my connection was severed for some unknown technical reason.
The 'ghosts' in the chat room were annoying at times and hilarious at others - people signing out who 'weren't' there (at least not visible) and so forth.

It is still worth the bother(s).

I was a frequent visitor to the chat room when it was still here. All too often, there was no one here but I did have some interesting discussions with the few who did come in. One problem was there was supposed to be some kind of organized chat at 6PM on Saturday nights. I came in for these regularly but there was nothing other than open chat. Several others came in and didn't understand why the announced did not take place.
I would like to see the chat room brought back.

I remember before the upgrade we used to have a chat room but there was hardly anyone ever in it. I would like to see it come back but only if people are going to use it.

I noticed that threads appear timestamped according to local timezone, whereas chat messages are timestamped at some US timezone (I guess Californian whatever that may be, we Europeans are not entirely up to date with all US timezones).

Maybe this can be fixed so it easier to see at what time the last chat message was actually posted. Now I have to post a "test" message myself to see what time the system reports back to me.

Same applies to "you last visited:" etc. (but this is far less important than with chat)

Yes, it is Pacific Time. CFI is located in California. I'm sorry, but I don't see a way to allow users to change this setting to match their timezone. Perhaps this will happen in the future.

naturist4ever maybe you can do like i did and set in windows extra clocks. i have 1 with local tima 1 with time for sydney and 1 with pacific time. so all i have to do is put my pointer over the time and i see the 3 clocks.

I see, Pacific time, yes. But the strange things is that message posts are shown with local time zone (for me), not pacific time zone. Which in fact is very useful. So somewhere deeper in the software it does pick up on timezone information, but probably it is not propagated to all bells and whistles.... Anyway, just so you know.

I'll check out the other clocks too.

I understand that the posts give you an option for timezone. The chatbox is in add-on module that does not offer this option.
