I have been absent for a while on the forum. Now, i would like to explain why.
On 23 november 2007, i was diagnosed with an aggresive cancer in my right hand. Between 23 November and 3 December, I went from doctor to doctor, from scanner to scanner. Then we decided together with the doctors to amputate my right hand, as soon as possible. The amputation happened on December 4th, late afternoon . Now I am recuperating at home, and doing fairly well. Learning to do everything with one hand, certain things will take time to learn. The ghost pains are still here, i still feel my hand.
We were sceduled to spend the winter in South Carolina, and were supposed to leave for the USA on December 10th. Of coarse, all this was cancelled. We were going to Cypress Cove on the 20th of December and stay there for one month. We had to cancel everything, and hopefully, I wil recuperate fairly well and quick, so we can rescedule our trip for departuring somewhere around end of February. Looking forward to this future trip.

Sorry to hear about your cancer John, especially finding out about this time of year. I guess you can say you were blessed that you caught it before it got worse, which I'm sure would have, if not taken care of it like you did.
Peace be with you and your family and take care. It's going to be rough, but you have already cleared the major hurdle. Now the recuperating time comes. Best wishes and hope things work out for the better in the long run.

Best wishes as you recover and relearn. Perhaps in time you will have an effective prosthesis to make things simpler, but nothing will ever replace your own hand.

I send you tons of my goodwill to you in your medical/physical challange, and hope that your plans for your trip happen soon and very well.
John, like everyone else I would like to extend my prayers and best wishes to you for a speedy recovery and for a cancer free future.
It sounds as though you have a very positive attitude considering what you have been through. That attitude and the support from your family can often be the best medicine for a full recovery.

Thank you all for your support, it means a lot to me. I have said it already earlier in one of the posts, my wife who takes unbelievable care of me and Clothesfree Int. keeps me going, it sounds weird, but it is the thruth.

I can relate. On the 12th of January, 1985 I was involved in an incident which left me without the use of my right arm. I had neural transplants which gave me motion in my arm, but my right hand is almost useless. You will adjust in time but it still can be frustrating trying to do some things (I still don't wear shoes with laces), and the ghost sensations also disappear eventually.
Good luck on your recovery!

John, Keeping a positive outlook is one of the most important things. The fact that you are once again writing to all of us is wonderful. Keep up the good work. I will keep you in my prayers. Bill

Hi John,
Life sends us freakish things to deal with at times. I wish you a swift recovery and tons of good luck in re-scheduling what sounds like a perfect vacation.
Cheers!

John,
Many wishes for healing and adaptation to the change in life this must obviously cause you! It seems someone must have been looking out for you in an odd way, in that the cancer WAS detected! I look forward to seeing your name here for many years to come, so get well soon!
A dear co-worker of mine is going through cancer therapy with her husband right now. He has completed radiation treatments and has finished a first round of chemotherapy just this past week. It seems the stuff is everywhere!!
