My wife and I are looking at getting into yoga as a form of exercise in 2008.
Has anybody tried nude yoga, or want to start a group?

There is nothing to stop you from taking a clothed yoga class and then practicing nude at home. That is if you can't a nude class. They are out there though. I think there is something in the Montreal area if anyone is interested. Someone has posted about it on NudeCanadian.com.

There is an aquaintance of mine that started a small group here last fall in his studio. It was part of his original group and these individuals wanted to do this on their own with the teacher, and he said he would give it a try. It became wildly popular.
I am happy to report that this went from one class per week to four, and had an article written in the local paper as well. He may have to open a larger studio, as well as find other instructors to help with classes.

I have never tried yoga, but would be interested in a pointer to a website that some of you think does a good job of explaining what it involves.

I was told yoga would be good for my back, which I have a problem. I think I would try it clothed first so I'll know what I'm dealing with.

I have been hearing and seeing references to Yoga, nude or otherwise, everywhere lately. I am developing an interest in it for better health. As a nudist I would prefer to incorporate it into my increasingly nude lifestyle. Keep the topic going I just need to get rid of the old image of yoga in my head and start looking at it in a new way.

I have tried yoga, nude yoga to be specific. Yoga was ok but nude yoga is hard for a female with my breast size- I kept getting knocked around by my knockers. LOL Hate to be crude, but I must speak the truth.

I've tried a few classes (clothed) at a local gym, and enjoyed it. A friend gave me a DVD to watch and do nude yoga at home. I've done it a couple times, and have talked to an instructor at the gym about coming to our resort to do nude yoga outside which I think would be awesome. He seemed accepting, but hasn't replied yet. But we wouldn't be doing this until summer anyhow.

Melissa - I can see why yoga might be a bit of a problem for a woman with larger breasts. My wife is on the smaller side and still prefers to wear a top, just for the comfort and support.

...you poor dear! I may add that the human body and the bits that move around are often re-toned by naked habituation. The flop factor in both men and women seems to diminish the longer you stay naked. I am also a runner as well as a yogi and now I feel the motion is just normal bouncing. Have no breasts but know the odd girl (and I do mean odd!).
Regular yogi practice will tone up the whole body by self-study. You would look good in a back-bend as the skin takes on a lithe shape however big you are up top.
Love and light!

Yoga has become a hot thing in the last few years and is highly recommended by doctors.

Nude Yoga too is quite popular. It really isn't all that uncommon. I moved from NYC to DC and in NYC there were a couple of nude yoga groups/classes. NYC, San Francisco, Washington DC, Boston are some cities I have come across that offer nude yoga.

When I lived in NYC, my health club even offered a form of nude yoga. You couldn't be completely nude but they would turn the heat up and people were welcome to take off their shirts or shorts but had to be in at least their underwear. I have seen men in just their jocks and women in their panties and bra.

I have done yoga, both clothed and nude but wasn't wowed by it. Do note, yoga is NOT considered a form of cardiovascular exercise. It shouldn't be substituted for cardio if someone is trying to lose weight or workout to improve heart, cholesterol or any other medical situation. But it is highly recommended to be done along with cardio as it increases flexibility.

I'd love to take a yoga class again, and I'd love to do it nude. At the moment, I can only do nude yoga at home... the closest nude yoga class I know of is in San Francisco on Sundays, and I work Sundays...

First time I did nude yoga was at White Thorn Lodge in PA. It is intense but you feel so much freedom when stretching. The human body is definitely designed to be nude! It's much different from clothed yoga!

Yoga is a very good form of exercise and doing so nude is the only way to do it.

Try some of the standing positions in the pool, that and Tai Chi will do you more good than on the floor and in a quarter of the time for as you know the pressure of just a four foot depth is four times that of the air in terms of the resistance the muscles actually feel.

After mastering Yoga and Tai Chi standing in four foot of water you can progress to doing them while tredding deep water for an even more vigorous workout that doesn't feel like a vigorous workout.

I've been doing nude yoga at home for a few weeks now. The Yogamazing guy has a weekly video podcast that I download using Miro. The videos are usually a little over 20 minutes and are at a reasonable intensity for a noob like me. Miro also has a couple of other yoga "channels" that show you how to do a couple new positions every week.

I am attending a clothed yoga class now and have been for the past few months. I love it. Naturally, I practice nude at home. Would enjoy very much participating a nude yoga class but alas does not seem to be any in the area.

Les odeurs des plantes, des arbres, le chant des oiseaux, le vent qui joue la sérénade en passant dans les feuillages et qui caresse notre corp,le Yoga nu c'est en pleine nature c'est vraiment génial, on sent le bien être nous envahir.

This is what the web computer translator did to Delphina's post :)

"The plant odors, trees, the bird song, the wind that plays the serenade while passing in the foliages and that stroke our corp,le Yoga nude this is in the middle of the nature this is really inspired, one feels the well being to invade us. "

Yoga is wonderful -

PS - I do nude Yoga once a week on my front veranda - do feel the well being invade me :)

Delphina, there is certainly NO critism, I think your words are fantastic.

I had a great laugh at the computer translation of your French from what you said (in English) "and caress the body" to the computer interpretation "and that stroke our corp"

The translation said "The plant odors, trees, the bird song, the wind that plays the serenade while passing in the foliages" "and caress the body"

Surely that is a wonderful way to say why we like being nude - in nature :) , we are naturists

Delphina, a beautiful expressiion of naturism and yoga. Although I have not tried yoga it seems to be coming more popular and would really like to give it a try. Think perhaps you have inspired me through your message.

Any one, besides me, ever tried nude Tai Chi? It's invigorating like Yoga, IMO.

I got the advice to do some yoga to relax more. One thing which keeps me off is the classroom/gym location, which is very sterile, not relaxing or inspirational. I think the form Delphina describes would be the way I want to do it, in the middle of nature, free of clothing, being one

I am not native English as well, living in an English speaking nation, I know how hard it is sometimes to express yourself in another language and in writing too which can have the readers interpretation, let even be the literal interpretation of the (online) translate programs.
Clothes free can mean lot of things, but the nudist and naturist should have the respect of the lifestyle and not criticize someone because they are not native English speaking.

Bare greetings,
Hans

I have taken part in a nude yoga class here in NYC, and it is a great experience. I also do yoga nude at home (well, I do most everything nude at home), but being part of a class with an instructor is better for me. The class has gained some popularity and notoriety here, but it it is a very safe space and most of the people are pretty nice. The instructors are great!
