Going to Paris for a weekend and trying to find a naturist venue - there swims and hammams that have naturist sessions but at the weekend all, bar one, are mixed with costumes required.

The exception is the Sauna de Paris which has a men only day on Saturday and a male then a female session on Sunday. During the week there are also mixed naturist and non naturist sessions. www.saunadeparis.com

Will the male only session be naturist - I assume that costumes will not be worn but would be interested to know how relaxed the French are with nudity, whether they are like Germans and will saunter around nude or more like the British and cling to their towels ?

I have heard from a French guy that they are not as open about even same-sex nudity as you would think in France like with gang showers and nude showers etc even though nude beaches are excepted and they even have some great nudist towns and resorts!

- on tuesday it says clearly naturist (means: no-bathing suits/bathrobes OBLIGATORY)
- on wednesday it says clearly mixed - swimsuits MANDATORY
- on all other days it says nothing meaning be-as-you-are, i.e., you assumption "that costumes will not be worn" should be correct. Expect bathrobes/(large) towels (I have only seen brits use the small towels the ones that barely go around the waist)

It is interesting to note that out of the non-mixed sessions only one - on a sunday afternoon - is reserved for women, all other 4 for men. Hmmm, says something about the development of sauna culture.

Not all germans saunter around nude!! That's a myth.
