Does anyone have a thought about the impact of the toll road going through San Onofre

I think the rub with the Toll Road, and it's extension, was that it would impact the parking for the surfers at a very popular surf spot and impact a camp ground near by. I would have used this extension and taken off many minutes of commute from our previous home but now that we live elsewhere, we'll take a different route and will only use the Toll Road for other reasons instead of visits to San O.

If the extension were built it would not impact our commute any longer but it may help with traffic that has impacted Oso Parkway in the San Juan Capistrano area. If I were a resident in this area I would have voted for the extension because it would have eliminated the increase in traffic in my neighborhood and all the intended south bound 5 freeway traffic, that currently dumps out onto Oso Parkway, would have stayed on the Toll Rd. til the Toll Rd and 5 merged.

I once was a opponent of the 210 fwy extension. I felt it was going to decrease my property value, be too noisy, cause polution and be an eye sore. Though it did, most likely, cause additional polution, it actually increased our property value and the noise wasn't as bad as it was at higher elevations and it became an added convenience.

The extension of the Toll Rd may have been defeated but it will now continue to impact many, many people daily that live where it currently ends. I think parking for the surf spot and a compromise with the camp ground could have been made without dumping the entire project.

Just my opinion.

Most of the people in South Orange County are up in arms about this because it will make the sacred surfing spot Trestles more crowded. Truth be told this surf spot has been crowded since the early 80's so I doubt the Toll Road wil make it worse. I don't even think there will be a negative environmental impact to the beach, ocean. The road is going to be further away than the 5 fwy. All those people are going to San Diego any way this will just make it less congested part of the 5 and 15 freeways. This is planned progress people.
