I can not believe that these are oil paintings, but they certainly appear to be photographs.

They do not have the free expression of brush strokes and personal technique of a painter.

However, there may be one way that I may be fooled into "believing".

That is, if these "scenes" were first photographed and then projected from a projector onto a canvas, and then someone slavishly outlined, copied, the figures and props with black, white, grey paint and went over, followed, the projected photographic images exactly onto the canvas with paint.

This type of thing would not be allowed in a competitive art exhibit.

In the larger examples here, you can see the brushwork in the muscles of the subjects' bodies.
