Not your backyard stuff. I have a large wooded area not far from my home in the country. It is populated by a dozen houses on one side. I've put up signs saying private property but still the people keep wandering in. Like it is their backyard. It is a beautiful place to be clothes-free but I'm scared of people and especially kids wandering in. Am I still within my rights?

Did you put up signs such as, "Private Property", "No Trespassing", "Private Property - Do Not Enter", "No Solicitors"? That should do it. If people still wander in, then I would ask the local law enforcment for further guidelines. As far as being nude on your own property, with the signage you have, I would think it is sufficient if you are spotted.

I take the property is rather large, so putting up a fence is out of the question. Just curious.:smoking:

If you have signage, and people still come in, I'd think there's nothing for them to complain about. When I used to walk mine and my neighbors' properties nude along the creek, I'd stop when I found a "posted" sign and wouldn't enter. Later on, the one neighbor adopted a little girl and 2 other houses changed hands and were populated with families of 3 girls each. So, I don't go wandering across those properties without clothes any more, BUT I still reserve the right to go naked on my own property. I still see some of neighbors, including one with 3 girls, come onto my property but have stayed at a distance.

You Do talk to your neighbors, right?

I think if they know you are often nude on the property and still enter, they may be trying to open relationships. Some families aren't as closed minded as others. They may be just as nudist as you and the children are used to nudity.

I would talk first before approaching them in the nude anyway. :o

My situation has a few parallels to yours. When I bought approximately 20 acres (8 hectares), almost two years ago, some people would come onto my property from neighboring land, riding four wheelers and hunting, as evidenced by tree stands on my property. I only have two neighboring houses, one on either side. I talked to the neighbor on the side that people were entering from, but still had to intercept one person on a four wheeler to get that to stop.

About the hunting, I put up No Trespassing signs at the points they seemed to be entering, and they stole the signs. This was the same time as the four wheelers were still entering, so I don't know if the same people are involved or different ones. I piled brush and other forms of barricading the entrances, and seem to have succeeded finally. I also set the tree stand outside of my land when I found it on the ground once.

This past hunting season, I believe no one hunted from my land, although they hunted from a stand just off one back corner and I found where a deer had died on my side and the hunter had dragged it maybe 150 yards up and down hill back to the stand. I wear a blaze orange vest when I'm in the woods during hunting season, even if nothing else besides shoes and would go back for clothes if I spotted anyone.

The neighbor on the other side I have had little contact with. He had a tractor for sale down at the road that I called about and mentioned I was his new neighbor and he showed no interest in getting to know me as a neighbor. I haven't had any further contact with him, nor any need to.

Just for fun I looked this up:

according to the state law in NY, Patrons are allowed to enter 15 feet past posted signs until it is illegal. As of nudity, as long as you dont go within "reaching area" of another persons property or seen from the road nothing is wrong. If a neighbor complains a sight barrier must be put ASAP. Signs that make others aware that your property may have content not sutable for children and anyone under 18 can also be posted to eliminate legal issues.
