I heard a joke many years ago about a guy that was wanting to stop the Jahova's Witness' from coming to his house. So, he answered the door in the nude. According to the joke the plan worked on the Males, but the Females keep circling his block. LOL.

Remembering this joke I was wondering how sales people react to having a naked person open the door and invite them in. Has anyone done that?

We do it all the time -- mainly when we are hosting a nude party at our house, and we know our guests are on the other side of the door laden down with coolers, pot-luck dishes, lawn chairs and towels.

We do it also whenever we are vacationing at nudist resorts or on nude cruises.

Soon, we'll do it at our new home at Cypress Cove, since we expect anyone coming to our door will also be a nudist, and will most likely also be nude as well.

Didn't actually answer the door nude, but the Jehovahs Witness' did appear at our door and the HW informed me. So I walked in the background in plain view, which I know for a fact they got an eye full. It didn't take long for them to leave. Don't know why, but they haven't been around since.

I work from home and frequently receive packages from UPS/FedEX. They usually drop the package, ring the bell and are gone before I can get to it. One several occassions I have had to sign for the packages and answered the bell in my normal nude state at home only to find the driver there with the singing gizmo. Since they are "regulars" on my route, they have become used to the fact that I will most likely be naked. My son answered the door once (also nude) and discovered that the FedEx driver and he went to school together. He invited the driver back afterwork for a swim and soak :)

People coming to our door know we will be nude - if we ever came to the door clothed it'd probably kill off some of them from the shock.

With a mile long driveway through the woods we don't get door to door salesmen or jeovah's witnesses too much and the ones that do attempt to venture up the driveway are met by a couple of black labs that are scary to those types but friendly to everyone else so they shy away, if not the sound of a bolt clicking into place usually does the trick.:sneaky:

I've retrieved packages from the UPS, Fedex, etc in the nude. I have also answered the door naked when I knew it was my neighbor, who knows I'm nude in the house. I had a towel with me, since I had just gotten out of the shower after a long road bicycle ride. I wrapped that around my waist as we were talking. The one other neighbor has come up our back step on our sun deck and I've left him in while nude. It's no problem for him since he's nude in their house much of the time. He will also come over a talk while I'm out our deck nude. It has short walls covering the rails, for privacy.

I have several small house dogs and no one gets near the house without them knowing. I have a fully fenced yard, cyclone in front and wood on the other sides for privacy. When someone comes, the dogs bark, and I can get dressed if need be. I keep a robe or shorts handy if they are needed. On a couple of occasions I had to answer the door and nothing was close to put on, so I opened it just a crack and stood behind it and told whoever was there to wait.

I answered the door nude one morning. I was still asleep and heard a knock of my window and a girl's voice saying "Fitz." I thought it was my GF, who would often come over after her morning class. When I answered the door it turned out to be my best friend Laura, who had a run in with the cops that night and ended up with her car towed and lucking out of getting arrested. She knew I was partial to skinny dipping and had been to a nudist resort. She was so stressed after having spent all night dealing with the cops and getting a cab to take her to my place (she didn't want to have to explain the situation to her parents) that she just walked in and started telling me the story without commenting on my nudity.

Yes, I have opened the door naked when I know who is coming in: my visiting children, my ex-wife or some of my friends.

I live in a block of flats, so my door opens (that's the way doors open here: outwards, not inwards) to the corridor and staircase. I have to listen first if there's someone moving or opening their own door, but the probability of "getting caught" is small, I think. Because the outer doors of the house are locked, no Jehova's witnesses or other unexpected people should generally ring the doorbell, and that happens very rarely. If it does happen and I don't have clothes on, I don't answer the door, simply.

I do answer the door nude, but only to friends who know I'm a naturist and don't have a problem with it. When I do I have to hide behind the door as I live in an apartment with doors to each unit opening to the outdoors.

Where I live, nudism is not that common and there are no official places to go nude. For my nude, outdoor time, I go to the national park that is just in town (Village Creek National Park).

I agree. There is a time and a place for everything. Being polite means conforming to social expectations. I know there are some here who feel compelled to push the envelope, but until I wake up in "Naked World" it would be shocking and rude to the UPS guy or the girl scout selling cookies. It could land a person in trouble depending on who might be at the door by shocking and affronting them regardless of intent. You really put yourself at the mercy of others if you answer the door naked. You would really get unwanted attention (either from perverts or the authorities) if you invited people into your house after answering the door naked. You will end up on a list you don't want to be on.

Living on 20 Sierra Nevada acres, I don't have quite the same concerns as the average city dweller. Your typical "Avon Lady" (or Girl Scout for that matter) doesn't drop by all that often. I do get the occasional UPS/Fedex delivery and I'm sometimes working outside when the meter reader or lost traveler types drive up. A neighbor drove up the other day to introduce a new neighbor I had not yet met. We talked a bit and I signed a petition he was circulating. No big deal. I have never had a nudity related problem since living here. A long time neighbor was a State Highway Patrol officer and another is a County Sheriff. (They would both tell Stu to mind his own business.) I haven't had a Jehova's Witness group come by for a couple of years now. The last drove up while I was working on my boat. One got out and we talked about theological matters for a bit while his wife(?), daughter(?) and male friend stayed in the car. I could not convince him that his "ideas" were nonsense, but we parted friends anyway.



It's a good idea to be careful but a "one size fits all" approach doesn't always cut it. It's nice to (sometimes) work in the city and "live" in the country!

I don't mean to tell others how to live. That is their business. I was saying that when people don't conform to the mainstream, they draw attention to themselves. It is up to individuals to decide what kind of attention they want. Your situation is different. Unfortunately I live in an area where mainstream conformity is a big deal. People coming to the door where I live would most likely be shocked by the door being answered by a naked person and at the very least most would think it was rude. I hope to change my situation one day by moving to a less populated place.

Perhaps I should preface my comments with "For me" or "As I see it" or "It is my observation" to soften what I write. It is my observation that there is the way things are, and the way we wish things were. For me, sometimes those are different. I wish there wasn't such negativity about nudity in our society, but there is. Part of that is fear because people equate nudity with sexuality. For me, answering the door naked and hoping to change people's attitudes about nudity would be like jumping from a building hoping to change change the laws of gravity. It isn't going to happen, and it is a lot easier for me to put on some shorts.

What ever the case, I think there is a difference between someone walking up on your property unannounced while you are outside or seeing you through a window vs. a person knocking on the door. There is much more chance for that person to claim they were shocked and affronted because 1) the person going to the door had warning that someone was at the door 2) the person had a chance to put something on before answering and controls when the door opens 3) the front door is considered more public than a backyard in many states. For instance it is easier to prosecute someone for trespassing if they go into a side or back yard as opposed to walking the path to the front door of a house to make contact. Nudity in many states is not unlawful unless it is sexual in nature, or done to cause shock and affront, like a flasher.

Stu can not help me with anything. If you pay attention to what I am saying you will see that our views have little in common.

I'm not so sure however, that some of your views on the "public" aspects of nudity are all that different from Stu's. Stu is a promoter of getto nudity, a concept you seem to agree with (or at least accept).

How about a little support for actions of civil disobedience once in a while. No doubt you are quite right in pointing out the dangers; but hey, nobody said freedom was free or without its risks. (Just keep the chain on the door). :)

I knew immediately she was selling something in spanish as they've come to our door before. I seriously thought about answering the door nude. But then, by the time you get to the door, (our sliding glass door is the one approached), you can already see that we are nude. And you have already passed the "beware of dog" sign and the "beyond this point you may encounter nudity" sign and you have come thru a closed gate.

We do enjoy a bit of privacy on our little 3.5 acres and we enjoy the protection of our right to be nude by Florida law.

I have never intentionally answered the door while nude but I did get "caught" once by the UPS guy. I was sweeping the kitchen floor and did not hear him pull up in the driveway, we have a door which is half windows with no curtains on it that opens into the garage which was open, well the UPS man decided to bring the package through the garage and put it outside the kitchen door and there I was. He just put the package down and gave me a smile and a wave and left. I guess he gets to see a lot of things in his job.

Most of those times I knew who was on the other side and a couple of times I knew that in less than two minutes, the visitor would be naked, too. (I've actually had more times when I've been on the receiving end of a naked door answerer! -- but those times were never a surprise.)

I've often thought that the day when I answer the door naked with no care for who's there will be the day that I've gotten free of all worries about who knows and who doesn't know about my life as a naked guy, or about what they might think. It has been fun to see how REVEALING this thread has been. As I read through the thread I can imagin all of the doors opening and closing. Kindof like the Laughin Show.

My area is not very open to the concept of nudity, as far as I know. I am only nude, at this point only when is not at home. I have been getting more comfortable like after a shower. My shower is in my basement and is not very private so many time during a shower my kids come running in with some question. Like, "Are you in there?". And there are times in the morning when I get ready to go to my JOB, my wife will see all of me walking around, but see doesn't say anything. Before we had children she would also enjoy going around clothes free. And we haven't been getting upset at the children for walking around naked. So maybe this will be a growing trend.

I was walking in the Mall and looking at the clothes the stores are displaying. In a magazine I had read that one of the new clothing treands is nearly nude. And from the ones that I saw in the Mall that was correct. So, the fasion industry might be helping people be more comfortable with nudity.

Don't let this message stop you from talking about answering the door nude or not. I am enjoying this OPEN conversation. I just wanted to add something to keep the thread going.

When our kids were still home I got home from work and our kids and my wife were all still at work so I got undressed and was sitting there reading the mail before starting dinner. Our daughters best friend at that time lived just 2 houses down and would always just walk in the back door when visiting. Well on this day as usual she just walked in and I said I'm not dressed, to which she replied so what, I've seen a naked man before and she sat down to chat for awhile. We talked about a half hour then she had to leave for work.

The guys had a hard time keeping eye contact, as I had pierced nipples at the time. The one doing the talking kept glancing down at my chest, while the other one was blatantly staring. I have also had another female neighbor come over while I was nude had a towel to drape over me though. yes, at least a couple of times. both times it was for guy friends who know about my naturism. one in fact is also a naturist, and he rather expected me to answer the door nude since his visit was planned.

the other guy, patrick, is not (yet...) a naturist himself but knew about my naturism almost before i did; in fact, after i visited a resort for the first time i was hanging out with him and said, "guess what i did last weekend?" and he replied "went to a nudist camp?" i was like, "how did you know." still haven't figured out how he discerned that about me.

anyway, patrick was coming over for dinner and a movie one time and i had just gotten out of the shower when he knocked. i debated for an instant, then figured what the hey and answered the door in all my glory. i asked him if he would mind if i stayed that way, and he was okay with it. so i cooked supper and we ate and watched the movie and i never bothered getting dressed.

one time i got up later than usual and was doing my morning prayer (nude of course) when my next-door neighbor knocked. i wrapped myself in a towel, but afterward was annoyed at myself because i had wanted him to know about my nudism and blew a great opportunity to let him know in no uncertain terms.

i have a sign just inside my front door that says: "warning: you are about to enter a clothing-optional zone."

Over last few years I've started answering nude more often for various visitors (adults only), and really never had bad responses. If it's a repairman, cleaner, or the like who'll be coming into my house, I confirm when making the appointment that they're ok with it, and 90% are. For unexpected solicitors or other visitors, I've initially cracked the door to remark that I'm unclothed, and ask if they mind (none have). And on some occasions where I've expected a contractor or delivery I haven't been able to give a heads up to, I've put out a sign (see attached to this post) stating this this a nudist household, with my phone # to call if they want to request that I cover up (none have).

So, I've found this open but respectful approach to be pretty affirming. I've often heard comments that they know other nudists, have tried it themselves, and/or feel I should stay however I want in my home. I have no beef with those satisfied to be private or social nudists, but for myself I also enjoy the experience of nudity around non-nudists, and openly identifying myself as a nudist. I don't insist on doing this all the time, but it's felt fun and free with the right circumstances and people.

Having chatted on this with a lot of home nudists, my take is many are like-minded and curious to be more open (maybe some of the lurkers on here?), but fearful about the taboo and stigma of violating the "rules" of a card-carrying nudist. And I suspect there's fear about being labeled "exhibitionists", with whom "non-sexual" nudists work hard to erect a Chinese wall (no pun intended). I do acknowledge the clear distinction between nudism and exhibitionism, but it's not my view one is inherently more natural or wholesome than the other.

Anyway, if there are more like me out there, I'd love to hear from you on this thread!

I like the sign and agree with your comments! I have seen similar signs over the years I have been a member of this forum, and all are good. I usually crack the door open and either give a "not interested" or tell them to wait until I slip something on if necessary.

Yes, I have answered the door many times totally nude. Some of my friends have never seen me with clothes on. The electric meter reader sees me nude once every other month, the UPS man has seen me naked along with the post man. Is just part of my life to be naked at home. Not quite in line with all the posts for this thread. But, a number of years ago I was in a hotel that had the fire alarm go off at about 2am. As I stepped out into the hall, the young lady that was in the room across from mine came out half asleep or more wearing just a t-shirt. I cleared my throat and asked her if she knew that it was 2 below out side. That woke her up. She let out a shreek and fled back in to her room. Luckily it was a false alarm because I didn't see her in the lobby while waiting for the fire department to give the all clear. Always keep something close to jump into in a hotel.

Like others when nude in the house, which is most of the time, we post a small stop sign saying " We Enjoy an Openly Nudist Lifestyle". We also post a larger sign at the top of our driveway, when we're nude in the house and yard. Because we post warning signs we feel who ever comes on the property can decide, stay or leave, and we should not have to cover up. We're in the country so we don't get a large number of visits from strangers. Large dog doesn't hurt either.

This morning I was very brave and proud of myself. Our complex arranged for PestControl to come as spray all houses. As usual I do not wear clothes at home at all, and thought that today would be the first time that I'll invite a visitor without putting on clothes. When he arrived I told him that this is a Clothing Optional Residense and asked if he's OK with it. To my surprise it wasn't an issue for him and I opened the door and was naked the whole time while he was busy spraying the house.
I asked him if this was the first time he saw this and said no. A few days ago some ladies did exactly the same. That gave me even more courage and when he was finished I walked outside with him to sign the paperwork. Everyone in our complex could see me then, but no-one was outside.

I'm thinking of doing the same on Monday afternoon when a Guy will come to my house to draw up plans for my swimming pool. The only thing is that this will not be a once off visit as he will have to come back again to approve the plans and then later he will be at my house for days when building the pool. I don't know if I will have enough courage to do this, although I would LOVE to.
He will be arriving at about the same time I get home from work on Monday. Maybe I should just ask him to sit and relax and have a drink, while I'll go and get out of my working clothes (suite) and be more comfortable (ClothesFree). I just don't want to offend the guy.
I do have a sign outside my house - see attached file - which should clear the coast.

The doorbell rang, wife ran to open door, and neighbor and his 12 year old daughter came into the kitchen. they were about 2 meters from me, there was a towel over back of chair. They stayed for a few minutes and talked to me a bit, then left. Don't know if they saw me nude, I suppose from the angle they could not have missed the view. The daughter is now 14 and quite a little petunia. His wife is hot 2 and I know she has seen me running around my yard nude, even though we have a fence. I like to cut grass in the nude esp. on a sunny warm day. Takes me 4 hours to cut the backyard.

I have answered the door naked for Jahova's Witnesses before. I was around 12 years old. My Mom had gone to the store and saw them a few houses down. She called me and told me that they were coming, and recommended turning down the TV and not answering the door. Instead I took off all of my clothes and answered the door to them. It was two women and they looked flustered and asked me if my Dad was home, no mention of Mom. Guess they figured that the only way a boy would be naked at home would be if it was just father and son.

Well, the Pool Guy was here and had no issue with me being nude. Instead the 10 minute visit ended up more than an hour, discussing all the available options and even walking through the garden measuring the area and sharing even more ideas. My nudity didn't bother him at all even when we walked out he didn't even hesitated or said that I should maybe cover up - just being normal as if I was dressed.

What a nice open minded person, and what a nice day for me.

From now on I don't have to ask him again as he will be here at my house constructing the pool for about the next 2 months and know I'm a ClothesFreeDudue.

Not totally nude, but close enough to know I had nothing on underneath my wrap around. This has happened on several occasions, even once when my wife's brother and his girlfriend stopped by. I stayed home that day from work, so they just walked in. I had nothing on at the time, but I heard someone come in, so I put on my wrap around. It didn't bother them, so everything was fine. I have answered the door nude, for me it depends who it is, if its children then i cover up, but to be honest i never really have children knocking on the door, unless they're my friends kids, then its their parents decision and most of them don't mind. If it the gas man or delivery people i don't really bother to cover up, but i will ask them once they're in if they'd prefer me to put something on. I always think that if i've let someone into my house then its quite bad to make them feel uncomfortable whilst there in, so i do my best to be accommodating. I generally find that most people don't really mind at all.

I do think that us girls have an advantage in this area as (although very unequal and sexist) a nude women is often not as offensive (in some people's eyes) as a nude man.

In the US, people look at nudity different than other places but I cannot think that any red blooded american male would object to a nude woman answering the door, especially one as attractive as you! No, I haven't done it yet. I usually know when someone is approaching since I have a "dog bell", actually two of them and I usually know before anyone approaches. However, in light of how this thread started, I may have to start answering the door in the nude. It might get rid of some of the solicitors and other riff-raft. But the local Scouts and other kids selling stuff could be a huge issue (not going there!). In this reactionary society, discretion is a requirement. shocked

Yes it is your home but common since should be paramount. The comment about scouts is probably appropriate when the kid come around (either girl scouts or cubs or boy scouts) for their fund raisers.

There are many friends for whom I don't bother to put anything on, but they wouldn't expect it. And one stranger came by and stayed for four hours, and I never had a stitch on. Get used to it!

I recently was recovering from a procedure and a friend came by to visit. Needless to say it was more comfortable out of clothes. It was the first time I have answered the door nude. Eventually he got comfortable and we both hung out nude during the visit. It turned out to be very natural and a non-issue.
