After the Civil War, General Lee was approached by a few men. They wanted to start the war again, and were seeing General Lee's support. His reply to them was this:

"Abandon your animosities and make your sons Americans."

He also has this to say:

"...The duty of its citizens, then, appears to me too plain to admit of doubt. All should unite in honest efforts to obliterate the effects of the war and to restore the blessing of peace. They should remain, if possible, in the country; promote harmony and good feeling, qualify themselves to vote and elect to the State and general legislatures wise and patriotic men, who will devote their abilities to the interests of the country and the healing of all dissensions. I have invariably recommended this course since the cessation of hostilities, and have endeavoured to practise it myself...."

Why do so many people seek to sow dissension in the US? This country has been torn apart in the last 20 years, worse than it ever was, other than the Civil War. There is nothing wrong with honest dissent, but what is happening is a them vs us mentality. A derision of opposite thinking. There is so much hate, on BOTH sides, that all that is happening is a further tearing apart of this great country.

Why can't you all just be Americans?

In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create distinctions out of their own minds and then beleive them to be true.
