it is difficult for me to post this but need support from friends. yesterday march 2 my mother and father were in a terrible car accident. my father did not make it and my mother is critical. they were life flighted to a medical center in pittsburgh,pa. the other party that hit head on was drunk. today is our wedding anniversary. i think with this said everyone knows the rest. i will be checking often

My heart goes out to you, buddy...to lose your dad and to have your mom in critical condition - that is an awful thing to have happen in one day. And a result of a drunk driver? Shameful and so, so unnecessary.

I don't know what else to say, but wish I had the words or wisdom to take away some of your hurt, as I know how bad it hurts to have a parent taken away so suddenly, and saying its hard doesn't even start to describe the loss.try not to forget your anniversary and what you still have, but I know your wife will understand it not being a special day. take care and stay strong freind.

My sympathies are with you. Drunk drivers are a terrible thing and should be prosecuted criminally. My son was hit by a close friend this AM and I spent the nite in the emergency room with him. I turned it into police and had the person arrested. It was very difficult as she was a close friend to our family and very special to my son. She was also drunk and on medication. My thoughts and prayers for you and your family in this terrible time of tragedy.

Most of us cannot imagine the suffering that one must feel when a parent is lost by an accident. Your Mum will need a lot of support which I am sure you will be able to give. When she recovers you will all need to focus on the good times you have all had together in the past. She will need a lot of support so as get her life going again.

10 years ago on March 20th my father passed away. I know the hurt that goes with never being able to talk to him again. But, like you, I had to be strong for my mother. Know that the pain does subside with time, but you will always miss him and remember him with a tear in your eye and a smile playing at the corner of your mouth.

Stay strong for your mother. She will need you in the near term and in the long run. I'm sure your father would have told you to take care of her if anything ever happened to him.

I sincerely hope that your mother recovers in short order.

My deepest condolences. As you can tell, wv, we are all trying to be strong for you around here. I had a relative imprisoned for drunk driving once, and I haven't spoked to her since. It is very doubtful that the murderer in your case, once caught, will get off as she did by going into rehab. Embrace your mother for us all!

UPDATE: it is monday 3-3-08. i love you all with all my heart! just reading these comments makes me feel touched and somewhat calm! the family was called in this afternoon for my mother. she needs emergency surgery tomorrow and they told us due to her age (79) and the trauma she has gone through the prospects of recovery is grave. an autopsy has been done to dad. i belive the state mandates it when a death occurs. to make things more difficult to understand...the woman that hit them i worked with in the plant. holding on to your prayers and thoughts. thank you all!!
