Now, you can have your very own puerile and utterly childish name calling generator at hand as you read the posts of our acquaintances on the far right.

Gentleman, I wonder why you then support Obama. The great messianic Obama who has come down from the mountain to deliver 'hope' and 'change' to the people of America doesn't tolerate such demonizing of political opponents!

His advisor was just this very day forced to resign for calling Hillary Clinton a 'monster.'

Surely you must take issue with this sort of civility in politics..

http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/03/07/america/dems.php

""With deep regret, I am resigning from my role as an adviser to the Obama campaign effective today," Power said in a statement released by the campaign. "Last Monday, I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton and from the spirit, tenor and purpose of the Obama campaign. And I extend my deepest apologies to Senator Clinton, "

Could you please find us 'hope and change word generator?'

OK. I'm not liberal but I couldn't resist pointing out that Nacktman's scheme, minus the center column is identical to the method that the Government uses to assign names to "special" programs. The first word is a random selection from the first column and a second word is a random choice from the third column. So "Warped-Minnow" would be a perfectly good choice for a program name. Of course they tend to use a somewhat different vocabulary than our friend Nacktman has chosen but the system is basically the same.

Well I have heard Mister, oops Miz Coulter referred to as a Spleeny Milk-Livered Harpy by several Renaissance Faire performers who happen to be of the true conservative nature (yes, I know they are even more rare at the Festivals than clean privies, but they do exist).
So it is not just the liberal, progressives and centerists and moderates using these terms to describe the wack-jobs of the wing-nut cadre.

Yeah? As in picking out two to line up with negative reputations. That takes some effort. Since you can only give one every twenty-four hours and have to "spread" them out. That's 56 negative reputations combined, and that is some work by a lot of people, or a few over an extended period.

Maybe even "GASP!" A vast right-wing conspiracy.

Now, between you and I, and the eyes peering over the fence, I don't really care a naked lab rat's hind end as to whether my reputation is red or green, in fact, I probably deserve red; surly, quarrelsome, contentious, fractious, flaming-rhetoric addicted, whining, pinko, that I am..hhhmm red somehow becomes appropriate, doesn't it.

But Nacktman? He does not deserve to singled out in such a shabby fashion simply because he riles the right-wingers. On balance, he does a great deal of good for the forum and is well-like and respected by most, and for his reputation to be sullied in such a shabby fashion is shameful!

A month or so ago, we had another member singled-out for the same treatment simply because he dared to disagree with another.

But, tell me, was it the intent that "reputations" be used as weapons against those with whom we disagree? If so, I need to get busy...I've got some catching up to do.

Actually that has not happened at all. I have watched every comment made and reputation given or taken. It has been used in a very appropriate manner, and actually most given have been positive.

The people with the highest reputation can give (or take) the most. A person with little or bad will have little or no effect.

As far as usmc, it was not a lot of people that banded against you. It was a couple that had good reps.

This, of course is the wrong place to bring this up, but since you initially and intentionaly brought it up......I already talked to Nactman,so now I'll tell you. No one here including myself have any problems with your opinions, they are yours and we respect that. However in return you for some reason have a problem with respecting views of another whose opinion differs.

What I am trying to say is a person may be incorrect based on fact, but that does not make them idiots or whatever else you may want to call them. I can't even list them all because you have used so many colorful descriptors of those that feel differently than you. You love to go out of your way to belittle others and make a deliberate effort to do so. Don't think for a moment that I am not aware of your back door quips as well. I am perfectly able to read between the lines.

You have a lack of respect towards people because their opinions, point of view, political party, ideas etc....that are opposite yours. You should give someone credit for standing up for their belief even if you think they are wrong. Even if you are right does not mean that your way is the best way or the only way for that matter. When you think that your way is the only way that makes you hopelessly narrow minded.

I have told you in the past (as I have Nact) many times I agree with what you say. I share the same point of view with you both on many occasions. What I can not accept is your constant, consistent methods and attempts to try and make others feel small. Usually people that do that do so to make them feel better about themselves. In my opinion you should stop trying to tear down others and be constructive with your conversations.

I am utterly disappointed in the fact that we can not give the people the respect they deserve and treat them the way a good man or woman should. I am tired make that exhausted in that we have people here that just want to stir the pot, and thrive within the results.

Well, ercNY that is certainly a mouthful! I actually responded categorically awhile ago in one of those ridiculous paragraph parsing responses. What I found, was that the only way I could respond was to become defensive and explanatory.

So, after the quick drive home, I deleted it. In some respects, I find your opinion of me way off the mark, some are maybe true, and perhaps, from your perspective, some mostly sort of true. I really do not care to argue the fine points, defend myself, or offer some exculpatory explanations for issues I feel no guilt over.

I do think this is the appropriate place to air it out though. It affects all of us, and should be discussed in the open. Especially the back door , under cloak of anonymity, attack on Nacktman through the reputation icon. I still think that was shoddy and cowardly.

But, I've lived in my skin long enough to know who I irritate and how I go about it. I also know the sort of people who appreciate me and my remarks. Of the two groups, I care about only one.

I do want to say this though. You are slap dead right on target when you say I have no respect for several people. Right. None!

But, I do accept the criticism that I tend to stomp on the roach rather than calling for an exterminator. My bad.

But, please, who is it I called an idiot? I have no recollection of having done that. Thought it? For sure. Inferred it. Heck dang, yeah! But wrote it? I can't remember that.

And, I've just got to ask you, no sarcasm, no dig, no "back-door quip" intended; are you, were you, a school teacher? I felt at times that I was being dressed down by the assistant principal--or some sort of parental lecture.

I do regret our disagreement over this, as I do respect you and the task you have here. And, I sincerely regret that you find me to add to your burden. That is not my intent, and I will try to be more attentive to that aspect.

Actually I enjoyed your response that you deleted over the one that is now public. (yes I read it entirely)

I will answer one question......No I am not and have never been a teacher, or anything similar. I am however a father of three, and in a leadership position in my career. I am a very humble person who thrives on finding the best in everyone.

All this talk about who is right, wrong, (or LEFT for that matter) means nothing. Life is all about people and relationships. When it comes down to it and we are thinking our last thoughts on our death bed, I have the feeling that we will not give a rats @$$ if we were a a member of [fill in the blank] The only thing that matters is how I was perceived by others.....was I loved? Cared for? Hey! What contribution did I make to mankind?

I respect anyone that has an opinion, and I think we all should. I have every right to say you are wrong and this is why I FEEL you are wrong, and you the same. I can not however say you are wrong, I am right and you should agree with me.....change your direction and come to my side. Instead we should respectfully voice our opinion, and wait for the volley.
At some point you just need to say "hey they don't get it" At that point they will have to be responsible and accept the consequence, but that is not our responsibility.

We have many people here and many points of view. We will disagree, but that is constructive. It is when we can not accept something different that screws us.

We need to respect the person, even if we do not respect the belief (opinion)

Yes, but, what it doesn't show is the who. Which leaves one with the old Star Chamber, secret black ball, anonymous attack.

I'll use mine as an example, only because that's the only one I'm privvy to.

I have two red marks and three greens going into yesterday, and after yesterday 4 affirmatives and two declaring that I'm a rude SOB who ought not abuse those I disagree with. Yet my persona icon is red.

So, am I to interpret that as evidence that someone with a, oh say four or five, greenie reputation dinged me, wiping out the three greens, and accumulated reputations from previous posts and threads started?

Nice to see Nacktman back in the land of the green....

Hi Nacktman, come back and visit me on my little red desert island from time to time will you? There'll always be a beer in the cooler for you sonny boy!

Well if you did not see a comment than no one left one, but that is good. If you see no comment it has to be good. A negative requires a comment, however a positive one does not it just indicate that someone agrees.

Ahhh... OK. Danke again oh master of forumness! :adoration:

Wow, do spend all the time putting up all those words. Someone must have little to do with their time.

Somebody went and gave me a negative mark for this post. Somebody who can't see that to spend one's time to think of, or collect insult upon insult and put them up on the internet or in a book(etc) all because one does not agree with the view/s of such person/s, makes such people of low maturity and very bigotted. A new source of activity needs to be found such as an outdoor sport.

The RNC Can't Handle The Truth

It really is too rich. The Republican Party, who has spent years either sponsoring or cheering on ads that relied on distortions or outright lies to win elections, are outraged that the Democratic National Committee dares to use facts in an ad about John McCain. Here are a few excerpts from the cease and desist letter that the RNC is sending out to various television station managers.

It has come to our attention that your station is currently or will soon begin airing a false advertisement sponsored by the Democratic National Committee ("DNC"). The advertisement in question falsely and maliciously accuses Senator McCain of stating that prolonging the Iraq war for "100 years" would be "fine" with him.
Actually, the ad doesn't accuse John McCain of anything. But one must wonder if it occurred to the RNC that if they think John McCain's own words imply that he's fine with war in Iraq for 100 years, then they've just endorsed what the DNC ad shows.

But it's not just the words coming out of John McCain's mouth that has the RNC frothing at the mouth, it's:
...the accompanying visual images in the advertisement, which show explosions, burning military equipment, and on-screen text stating "Over 4,000 Dead."
This of course clashes with the RNC version of war, which features freshly painted schools and waving purple fingers, rather than its ugly realities.
But this has to be my favorite line:
...the DNC has no right to knowingly and willfully spread false information in a deliberate attempt to mislead the American people.
You can almost hear them screaming, "That's our job!"
