Uh, okay. I'd like to know the definition of "just the facts" and "balanced" and "straight talk" etc.
For the record, I do not see much of Fox since it is not available in my world. I did get to see it and CNN side by side last year in Jamaica. We got treated to 24 hours of the death by pills of the movie star.......do we REALLY need such in depth coverage of such an event????
I'll stick with CBC and CTV thanks.

Yea Fox News is so fair and balanced because they have ONE moderate liberal (Alan Colmes) against a bunch of right wingers (O'Reily, Cavuto, Hannity)

Bad - Fair - Average - Good - Excellent
On that scale they might make it to fair. At least with a little work, and if you gave them points for humor.;)

Compared to ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, CNBC, and others, they are FAR MORE balanced.
One ones who think not are the narrow minded leftists who are pissed that they dont have a liberal monopoly on all of the news.
The question is, 'how did you keep a straigt face posting this?'

Hi blackrebel, I was hoping a fan of Fox would reply to this. I do hope you manage to watch other news besides Fox. I am also amazed at the whole idea of a "liberal monopoly" or a "liberal agenda". I guess it is all in the eye of the beholder, but then I am looking at it from another perspective. From my angle all US media is pretty right-leaning. Much of the Canadian media is as well, but we manage to at least be a little less sensationalistic.
I had the opportunity to see Fox and CNN side by side last year for the first time. Frankly, I saw little difference between the two.
Oh, would that we could have a truly balanced media. One that relied on more than sound bites and glitz. One that actually presented the issues and discussed them. And by issues, I do not mean Anna Nicole or Gov. Spitzer ad nauseum.

Are we certain that this is even a real Fox promo? I mean it is so like a lampoon of what they really are. Do they not realize how ridiculous that thing is. It's like they're dissing themselves!
I guess maybe they're beginning to understand just how wretchedly right wing they are and how far from the mainstream, they've become and are trying to re-re-re-position themselves as fair & balanced. But, who would be swayed by that laughable piece of tripe?
What a hoot! Almost as funny as Nacktman's Danny Boy muppets!

Boreas, you have got it pegged alright.
But, there is a difference between CNN (and the others) and FauxNews in that they make an attempt at actually covering the news. Granted those attempts are laughable at times, every blue moon they get it correct. Whereas FauxNews ... FakeNews ... FarceNews ... etc.(pick your favorite), makes absolutely no attempt to cover the news and they make The National Enquirer look like the bastion of respectable journalism.

Well, I can't comment on that really. I do not get Fox news in my house. It only recently (last couple of years) became available in Canada. Apparently it was deemed to be too far off the right spectrum for our Canadian sensibilities. Also, when I saw Fox Anna Nicole had recently died and both they and CNN seem to feel that was worthy of 24 hour news coverage.
I have seen clips of what Fox folks say about Canada. Very interesting, and VERY wrong! <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

It does bring a smile to the face. I guess I have to balance that with people like Keith Oberman. Now there's a "fair and balanced" view of the world. And Fox is upfront about their conservative bent--at least you know what to expect going in. I don't detect that with the other networks...unless they want us to believe they have no bias. And if you believe that...well...

Is he? Or is he just a reporter doing his job? Questioning what the government is doing. I hope that when a democrat takes the white house he continues on with his firm journalism.
And Fox is upfront about their conservative bent--at least you know what to expect going in.
No they are not. They'll tell you with a straight face they are 'fair and balanced'. They don't admit to being on the right at all.

Well the truth is that American media IS biased. But biased to the right. The right whines every time there is a story about a republican and complain that the media is attacking them, but they say nothing when democrats are in stories in the media.
Here is an interestiing video... (near the middle-end is where it gets interesting)

*edit* Here is the link (http://smirkingchimp.com/thread/13487) to the story that youtube link came from. Oddly enough its about how Hillary is using the republican tactics of complaining every time there is a negative story about her. Then I go to CNN and see this story (http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/03/17/clinton.bill/index.html), which is Bill claiming a 'mugging' from the media.
