I have been considering rewarding myself with a visit to a resort. My problem is that since I have a textile wife, I have to visit alone and I become bored with just swimming and laying by the pool. I would like to vist a venue with organized activities throughout the day and evening. I have no idea if a place like this exists so I decided to put the question to the experts.
What type of activities do you participate in and what resorts do you recommend in the continental US?

When I went to Paradise Valley in GA they had all kinds of stuff to do. Volleyball has always been big with nudists for the same reasons it's big with people at the beach on spring break and what have you. One time they had a Texas Hold 'em in the club house (didn't even need to be strip poker.) Sang some Karaoke out by the pool one weekend. Just look up the resorts in your area and most of them list events by weekend on their website. If you are, or could travel to, the Tampa Florida area you could come to Caliente resort & spa. As a full service spa they've got all of those girlie things like facials, body wraps, pedicures, massages & stuff that your wife might enjoy. I actually used that to get a non-nudist friend interested in joining a few nudist friends on an overnight trip to that resort by telling her that she can keep her bikini on at all times if she wants and can do all of those spa things that girls love so much.

Come to Cypres Cove, and they will keep you busy from mornings till evening. Impossible to get bored here. You will see.

Al, what do you like to do? This is not a question you need to answer here, but rather for yourself. Nudists at resorts do a lot of things. Fitz mentioned a few things. If you have a few pastimes that you can bring, do so.
Things such as volleyball--both water and court, tennis--both table and court, billiards, darts, bocce, horseshoes, basketball, etc. Sometimes, as Fitz mentioned, they have certain tournaments. I am a more solitary person and have brought books and word puzzles to do to pass the time.
Again, look up the website of the place where you want to visit to see what they are offering when you are going.
Good luck.

Yeah. What Bob said. People have different ideas about vacations. My neighbours go on vacation and they spend every waking hour running around. My wife & I spend every waking hour relaxing and laying around the pool reading and in the hot tub. I go on vacation to relax, not work harder than I normally do during the week. :D

al bundy: glad you're treating yourself to a day at a resort. i often go alone or with a buddy i met at a resort and have been friends ever since. the fiirst thing i do is pick a spot to lay my towel down. then i listen to my walkman for awhile just soaking up the sun. after awhile i'll just walk around the grounds looking to see if there are any license plates from my area and just chat with the people i see. after that i spend some time at the pool and chat with others there. you'll find they have the best food at nudist resorts. when my buddy and i are there - same routine except we do some free hiking on the trails they have there. good luck and enjoy!!

Al; Please take a book you enjoy. Explore any activities that are offered. Remember, you are there to Relax! A walk around the grounds and a dip in the pool can be very refreshing. My personal recommendations are Ponderosasunclub and SunnyHaven. If you wish to travel a bit further, try TurtleLake in Michigan. Rick

Al, some resorts have more amenities and events than others so a bit of research before your visit will be helpful. Generally, if you're the amiable, friendly sort thatt mixes easily with strangers you'll find yourself talking with people, watching something on the TV in the clubhouse with people, finding someone to play lawn or deck games, and so forth.
Going as single-male and first visit you're likely to be interviewed and handed over to someone guide you a bit--they might even try to match you with people with similar interests--it just depends on the facility.
The advice to take a good book, is outstanding. You may find that not much is going on and old acquaintances and friends are clustering together and not particularly receptive.
It depends on the facility, the people that are there on that day. It is too bad Peg won't go, going as a couple helps break the ice.
Go, relax, take a book, laptop, game, I-pod and see what develops--you'll find most people receptive and friendly> The pre-visit inquiry will be helpful.

The suggestions about taking your laptop, walkman, ipod, etc. is good. HOWEVER... Use the time at the resort to un-plug, man!!
Here's something you may not have considered... One nice thing about most nudist resorts I have visited is that they are far away from populated areas which provides an excellent opportunity for star gazing! The unlit night sky is simply amazing.
Also, I acquired a portable shortwave radio when I was a kid and have been an avid shortwave radio listener ever since. Camping at nudist resorts has given me some of my best DX catches! After pitching the tent (or parking the Jeep where I want to camp and laying out my sleeping bag in the back), I pull out my longwire antenna and toss the end up into a tree. Then, I run the wire down into my tent and connect it to my radio. Then, when I am done with the day's activities, I go take a nap. When night comes, I turn on the radio and enjoy shortwave bliss!! Listening to shortwave while star gazing and listening to the frogs next to the lake at Laguna Del Sol is about as good as it gets. Except for being in the mountains anyway.

I've been considering a visit to Paradise Valley and Serendipity lately. Went to Bell Acres for the first time the other week, which, while their pool isn't open, has a large hottub, a wooded area for hiking/walking trails and a large meeting/game room to watch tv, read a book, etc.

Good question!! Since i am a family man, i tend to always be at home doing something, not much time for vacationing. When we go for a nudist vacation, we have been doing it as a family (for the last 15 years). We go to the Sunsport Gardens Mid-Winter Naturist festival, as they have "stuff" planned all day. I have never been to another nudist resort, except for Eastover which was having a naturist event similar to Sunsport's. At each of these events, since we have kids, we did kid stuff and watched them run around. I would not know what to do at a naturist resort if the kids were not there. I assume i would do like others, meet people similar to myself and hang-out talking by the pool. i would quickly bore of that (and don't like to play volleyball) so I would than go on a nude walk, hopefully on a very long trail. I could easily spend the day hiking wether alone or with others. I actually do some nude hiking at florida state parks every year i can get away, and those walks are often done nude and always by myself. I have been "caught" a few times, but i try to be away from where most people are and at times of the week and day when most would not be out walking (one time caught by young male joggers that came up on me quickly and kept on running along, probably training for their high-school). The food tends to be good at nudist resorts, so plan your life aroung the meals, or bring your BBQ and cook for yourself. In other words - what do you like to do, and see if the resort accomodates that. I do try to stay away from all electronics, except the cell phone, as i want to relax.
When we take textile vacations, we are running from one event to the next, but that is to keep the kids active. We like those sort of trips, but we usually have a slow period in there as well (for me!!). Unfortunately, most of our vacations are textile, as that is what the kids prefer.

Is this a one-day thing, or a vacation, or what?
If you visit a place like Cypress Cove, there are events going on all the time, but the events are petanque, tennis, etc. during the week. You have to ask yourself what you like to do.
You could also visit a Naturist Society Festival / Gathering, where there are multiple events at nearly all times. And those are pretty good -- they are not "nudist" but "clothing optional" ... so she can come along and stay clothed.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I knew this was the place to obtain expert advise. I did vist a Florida resort a couple of years ago (alone of course) and enjoyed walking the property and bicycle riding. Did not get involved in any volleyball games etc. as it appeared they had organized teams competing. I did bring a book to read but that also got a little old. I had considered asking the office if they had any work that I could perform just to stay busy. Rest and relaxation is nice to a point but I guess I just need to be kept busy to fend off the boredom. It would be nice if I could convince my wife to accompany me to a C/O resort and remain clothed but she has made it clear she does not want to be around naked people. She tolerates my home nudity but always has a comment about forgetting my clothes. I do not force my opinion on her as she has as much right to her view as I do mine. I am sure if I could convince her to try it once, she would be hooked. I am considering a week long visit to Cypress Cove but have not determined the date. The biggest drawback is having to rent a car to get there from Orlando as there does not seem to be any mass transit other than a cab. Anyway, thanks again for your suggestions, they are appreciated.
