I was wondering how many folks out there among us are self-employed?

The reason I ask this is it would seem tough for a person to run a business large or small without running into some kind of societally-based negative reactions.

If you are a business owner, large or small, what are your experiences in dealing with societies negativity towards your situation?

Not working due to injury on the job from an auto accident. I work for a large rental company.

I'm self employed consultant. Have been for last 16 years. Don't understand your question. Why would society react to me negatively because I run a business? Society doesn't react one way or the other.

Sorry I wasn't more clear GrayWolf.

What I was wondering was more like "If you're a business owner, aren't you worried about how your business would be impacted if people found out that you were a naturist\nudist?" Do they know or do you even care if they know?

I hope that makes more sense.

I have owned a hot tub service and repair company here in the Washington, DC area for many years. I couldn't care less who knows or doesn't know about my nudist activities, nor could I remotely imagine the circumstances of someone caring one way or another. I think that most consumers would judge me (as well as other service/retail/etc. providers) on the basis of cost, service, professionalism, and quality, not necessarily in that order. When I started my business in 1995, I had a data base of 300 customer addresses which has grown over the years to almost 2,500 addresses of people I have provided service to over the years, most on a continuing basis. I really think this is a non issue.

I own a business, and some of our clients know I am 'clothing deficient' at times. Nobody cares, but they do occasionally take a jab at me. If I work at a site all day then go back to the office, I have been asked if I was there nude. I answer 'YES' and get a giggle out of them.

One of the guys that works for me worked with me at a site where I got nude because it was very hot in the building (over 100 degrees) and the A/C had failed. We had to repair the equipment that had been damaged by the failure of the A/C system. Anyway, he went down to shorts but not nude, and never gave any notice to my nudity. Well, actually, I wasn't totally nude, I was wearing glasses and tennis shoes!

Once the work was done, I put on shorts and we drove back to the shop. I stripped down in back and took a 'hose shower' to clean the sweat off, then got redressed. My employee chose to stay sweaty and smelly the rest of the day instead. Sucks for him!

I voted for 'not currently working' because I'm not making any money right now. I'm writing a thriller - which will include one short naturist scene by the way - so ofcourse I have to finish it first, send it to publishers, and then wait for a response before I know whether there's any future in it.
If not, I'll go back looking for a 'regular' job, though still writing-related.

I am not self employed but inherited the family gene for the desire. I hope to figure out a way to be self sufficient and free to practice naturism as much as I like. If anyone wants to brainstorm ideas let me know.
