Overall: Robert Doisneau (okay; I'm French so I'm biased)

Nude: I'll have to go with Jock Sturges. Yes; I know it's controversial. But controversy aside, I feel his work is some of the best in impressionist nudes.

The only artistic photographer that I've ever bought a book of was Sally Mann. I think the title was Immediate Family. I've seen Jock Sturgis and liked it but stuff like that is too expensive to buy casually. I also like Bunny Yeager though I'm not sure I've really seen her work. That's for deeply personal reasons I can't explain. Purely out of idle curiousity does anyone know if she's related to the astronaut (Carl ?) Yeager.

For nudes, I love the work of Sally Mann and Jock Sturges.
For non-nudes, Kim Anderson is amazing. If you shop for calendars, you'll see his black and white photographs of children with the slightest tinting of color added in. His lines of calendars are Sweethearts and Yesteryears.

Stunning images by Kirsty Pilkington, in Tasmania, Australia

I am also rather partial to Spencer Tunick, for the scale and wonderful experience that is involved in participation in his installations.

Kathleen Connally is wildly imaginative and talented local (to me) photographer: A Walk through Durham Township, Pennsylvania (http://www.durhamtownship.com/portfolio/index.php)

Ansel Adams, but his work is somewhat unusual and difficult to emulate without a view camera. A lot of the effect is also in the printing/lab work.
