View Full Version : Shaving while at a nudist park

Hi all.

At nudist parks I've been to, I've often noticed disposable razor blades sitting in the showers, obviously left behind by someone else. Some of these showers have been in the clubhouse, while others are out near the pool.

I'd like to ask everyone if you think it's acceptable to shave oneself while there in a public shower, or rather wait until one is at home. I'm just talking about a quick touch up, not a complete head-to-toe shave. For the record, I'm not a complete smoothie but simply shave my scrotum.

Thanks!

I have not noticed this at all.

Yes it is perfectly acceptable to take care of ones personal hygene in the showers. Many people spend a week or two or even live at the resorts. When else would they do it? We as nudist accept the body and its functions as natural, so you do what you have to do to take care of business. Please do not leave those blades in the showers someone else could get cut and no one wants to clean up after another before they use the showers.

Shaving sounds acceptable to me.
But leaving a used razor laying around doesn't.

Nothing wrong with shaving, but take and use your own blades, and dispose after using them.

Shaving or a "touch up" is perfectly fine. Please remember that mom does not live here and CLEAN UP after yourself. Not only is it unsightly to leave the razor behind it is a potential health hazzard! Forgive me my rant, but I have been there for so long with my sons :)

In the landed clubs I have been to it was acceptable to shave in the showers.

Don't see any problem with shaving, even in the public showers where everyone can see you, but dispose of the blades.

Where else are you going to shave? Don't let personal grooming (anywhere) slide just because you are not at home! But do pick up after yourself.

WOW, I see that the original poster of this just a few days ago was banned. I did a search of his entries and this was the only. What happened?

During this past winter my wife and I spent ten weeks at Sunsport Gardens. We were camping in a motor home and our camp site did not have sewage. If we were to take showers in the motor home, the sewage would quickly fill up. So we took our showers in the public shower rooms. The one particular shower room has two doors. One is marked men and the other is marked women. When you get inside, there is one big room with three shower heads. It is not unlikely to go in and find one or two other people showering. Since everybody is naked anyway, what is the difference if you are taking a shower. And yes, people shave their faces, under arms, legs, and pubic areas. As it should be: no one pays attention or comments.

Very interesting topic to read but why was the OP banned?
I see nothing wrong in personal grooming any more than shaving my beard but it is an interesting idea. I tend to like to use the toilet in private and tend to pubic shave in private however I have no problems with doing either activity in front of others in appropriate situations.

The OP was banned because of his highly suspect name. Seriously.

Why are the showers segregated ?? MOST men only shave their face. Shaving ones privates just doesn't make sense.

You missed the point of the joke. At Sunsport, one of the shower areas is an indoor area, with one room, a bench, 3 shower heads...And TWO doors. INTO THE SAME ROOM.

So you choose the appropriate door, open it and get to the same place. Get it?

You're right as far as basic showering goes, what's the big deal? Some people have no problem being nude in front of others, but shaving, urinating, or other functions still become a task they do not want to "share."

At a lot of places, the easist way is to take a shower when fewer people are around-such as early in the morning.

Shaving in the shower-anywhere and everywhere-seems acceptable to me. It's the natural place to do it. The last thing we need are people who enjoy nude recreation becoming prudes. There is enough of that in the textile world.

People completely comfortable with themselves will shave anywhere and any time it's necessary. No big deal. I don't. Too lazy, but I've been in the showers with males and females that were shaving. Even been asked " I miss anything?" by both sexes. No biggie.

No worhty of commenting on. See it, forget it. They all cleaned and got rid of their razors.

I saw a woman once doing this; it didn't bother me at all as she was turned with her front to the wall and was being discreet about it. We could all tell what she was doing but it was no big deal.

However, leaving disposable razors around is not only unsafe, but quite gross.

In Quebec, it is still quite rare that men shave their pubic hair. I think that a man who would shave his pubic hair in a shower of a naturist center of Quebec would get a lot of dirty looks if not worse. Some centers have even rules that you cannot touch any other body in any way...

Are nudist women allowed to shave in the shower in Canada? I presume so. Then why not men? FYI, my wife and I both shave and have never had a cross look or negative comment.

I've had no problems from anyone while shaving at the resort that I frequent. As a matter of fact, I've been asked about my "technique"! Seriously, a couple of gentlemen (and one lady) over the course of the years have asked things like "what type of razor", "soap or foam", "why shave up instead of down", [do both] "what happens if you nick yourself" etc. I was pretty nervous about shaving for the first time in public because you can't avoid handling yourself in the process and I was afraid I would be reprimanded or, at worst, get thrown out. I had already been there for three days and as anyone who knows can tell you it gets pretty uncomfortable with that new stubble (nothing like the feeling of a clean shave, a little powder and a smooth scrotum gliding between your thighs). So imagine my surprise when I started getting these questions. To say the least, I was pleasantly surprised. Discression is the key.

Well, I would say the only thing most men here shave is their face, usually with an electric razor. Not to mention that most people in naturists centers in Quebec tend to be over 40 (tendency to conservatism).

But it seems to me that shaving in a public shower is not of very good taste. There is enough body hair in thoses showers without adding shaving in it. It could be bad also for the plumbing.
I never saw anyone shaving in public showers in Quebec. I do not know if I ever saw a man with no pubic hair, but this is also quite rare here.

Well over 40. Me. 61. Shaved from neck down. Wife. 57. Shaved from neck down.

And just where would we shave except in the shower? Soap is no different than shampoo and there is not enough hair to matter with daily shaving. You'll loose more than us if you shed even a hair or two from your head. It's no big deal.

There is a very funny YouTube video (discreetly) showing a man shaving his genitals in his bathroom unaware that his real estate agent and prospective house purchasers are watching.

Perhaps someone could post it here

As a card carrying naturist/nudist for over a decade, I find it amusing when people, men or women, go into an indoor area to strip off their clothing before rejoining the world naked; the very reason they are there.

I think it's just some type of habitual modesty, or a conscious effort to not appear like an exhibitionist/stripper. Not sure. Any comments?

I agree 1000 percent, it is no big deal. I do it when ever I think of it in the public shower, and I take the razor with me when I leave.

Isn't it possible that they are going indoors to place their article of clothing in a storage unit or a locker?

I would hope this is not a problem for people in the nudist community.

If you remove your body hair, you're going to have to do it again, unless you've had it removed permanently by laser or electrolysis.

I get sugaring done all over, but I do have to shave in between sessions.

Bye for now.
