The News

Eastney naturists campaigning to maintain the rights to strip off on their local beach are holding a public meeting.

The event will take place on Tuesday, April 22 at 7pm at Nelson’s Bar – in the Caravan Park, Melville Road, Eastney, just near to the beach.

At the meeting Eastney Naturists will report back on the campaign, and discuss the way forward.

All those interested are urged to come along and make their voice heard.

Plans include a newsletter to households near to the beach and lobbying of candidates in the oncoming local elections.

Naturists fear that proposals from the company Qinetiq, which owns the beach, to build flats near to the sea could result in an end to their right to shed their clothes there.

The group is also looking for help, including someone with legal experience, to help with the next campaign.

Ideally, the group would like to be contacted by a solicitor with some specialist knowledge who could donate some time and offer some definative advice on public nudity and the law – especially with regard to nudity on non-official beaches – and property and planning law.

If you can help, email the campaign team at info@eastneybeach.org.uk, and for more info on the campaign go to http://www.eastneybeach.org.uk

The website is designed for anyone interested in saving Eastney Beach for continued naturist use.
