Nudists push for official beach
Sunshine Coast Daily

The Free Beaches Association has called on mayor Bob Abbot to get
behind a move to declare Queensland's first official nude beach on
the Sunshine Coast.
President Anita Grigg has also identified the perfect location to
bare all – a secluded patch of beach north of Coolum's Stumers Creek
and south of Peregian Beach.
Ms Grigg said the area would meet the requirement former premier
Peter Beattie set out two years ago for a nudist beach.
"We have a letter from the Queensland government which said for a
nudist beach to be approved, it would need to be easily accessible
for police and lifesavers," she said.
The Sunshine Coast's "unofficial" nude beach at Noosa's Alexandria
Bay, and Coolum's Third Beach, were not as suitable as access was
difficult.
The Free Beach movement gained momentum this week when Maroochydore
magistrate Barry Barrett dismissed an unlawful exposure charge
against artist Kenneth Wenzel – and awarded him costs of $2000.
Mr Abbot said he had "never had a problem" with Noosa's Alexandria
Bay but the application for a nude beach would need to go before the
full Sunshine Coast Regional Council for a decision.
"It would need to go through proper process first (gaining state
government approval)," Mr Abbot said.
Ms Grigg hoped the council would consider following nude-bathing
rules applied in Europe.
"You have a sign up which says one way to the nude beach and the
other way to the non-nude beach – this is accepted everywhere in
Europe," Ms Grigg said.
"Further up from Stumers you could have a sign saying nude bathers
could be expected from this point onwards."
Premier Anna Bligh said she would happy to talk to mayor Bob Abbot
about the issue.
She said any nudist beach had to be safe, accessible and away from
everyday beachgoers.

I think we should arrange an international collection to help Mr Wenzel pay his legal fees, the $2000 award probably won't even pay for his lawyers coffee breaks.
Is there an organisation in the USA that could handle this, I'll look into the UK situation and I'll sure my mate Bushie will check with the FBA.
