Don't hold your breath waiting for a conclusion to this, the Queensland government has fudged this issue for a long time, the ultra conservative politicians are afraid to sanction this for fear of a backlash from the puritan voters, take the quote from Anna Bligh "will not oppose a submission from the Free Beaches Association" which isn't exactly a green light, they say they won't oppose a submission, it says nothing about whether they will oppose or sanction a nudist beach, very noncommittal if you ask me, but they are politicians aren't they!

I hope this clothing optional beach(legal) is recognised as I will take my children down there for the occasional weekend camping trip.

Great news, at least they poli's are talking about the proposal. I hope they choose<st1><st1> Alexandria Bay,</st1><st1></st1></st1> (my avatar) is taken at "A Bay". It is ridiculous that <st1><st1:state w:st="on">Queensland</st1:state></st1> of all places, where it is warm right through our autumn, winter & spring , April to November, the perfect place to be for swimming does not have a legal C/O beach.

I would suggest that because of the tropical climate there would probably be more nudity going on in Queensland than any other state in Australia - QUEENSLAND NEEDS LEGAL NUDE BEACHES

Not wishing to appear negative, but HERE (http://www.thedaily.com.au/news/2008/may/07/nude-beach-coast/) is anoother article that indicates the less than enthusiastic response from the Queensland authorities, Mayor Bob Abbott, he said "he is not available for an appointment for at least two months" which sounds very much like yet another delaying tactic.

When the beaches have been sanctioned for nudist use, then I'll celebrate.

Not far from Caboolture is a naturist camping ground. Only about an hours drive away is the Sunshine Coast. When I am camping at this ground in January, I will go to the Sunshine Coast for a swim in the beach but only if I can take my daughter with me at a legal beach.

Yes, Pacific Sun Friends is a great place, the creek is pretty good but I especially liked the woodland walks, and no fences! On the walk I went past the entrance where I stood buck naked looking down the approach road, no gate or fence, then I continued down the old airstrip and a couple of cars went by before I got back to the camp ground.

This is one of the places is on my Australian tour (If required.), Coolum and Noosa too, including the beaches in the article.

That's what you get when you treat naturists like pariahs.
When you want to stuff them in the most remote corner possible, as if they're not 'civilized.'

We should turn the argument around: We are accepting of ourselves and of others as we and they are, therefore we are civilized. It's the textiles who are the barbarians, with their plastic surgery and hunting clothes, all done to trick their prey - members of the opposite gender of breeding age. We encourage the barbarians to act like intelligent, civilized human beings by getting rid of their stupid camouflage (blue jeans, fancy evening dress, swim suits, etc.) and accepting their fellow human beings' bodies for what it is, normal and natural.

In the meantime, we will accept them on public beaches, as long as they are dressed appropriately, that is to say, "in nothing but sunscreen".

:D

(The above suggestion made with tongue firmly planted in cheek.)

The article says:

The number of signatures on petitions against proposals for other Sunshine Coast beaches left councillors in no doubt that public support was not there.

Speaking generally...a lot of people don't want a nudist beach near to them and, at times, they will make their feelings known. People who are not comfortable around nudity are not necessarily "nutters" or "eccentric", nor do they have gymnophobia. Nudists need to negotiate with communities and allay their concerns. Militant strains of nudism do nothing to further mutual understanding between textiles and nudists but rather they encourage authorities to reject applications such as this one.

Saw this mentioned on an Aussie naturists group, they were disappointed but not surprised.
I wonder if they still cover table legs in Queensland!

Natourism is a growing area, Queenslander's need to wake up to this if they want their share of the buff dollar.

Natourism = Naturist tourism, you heard it here folks.

Perhaps they prefer to keep their environment nudity-free and so they're quite happy to manage without the "buff dollar".
