This book has been used since 2005 and they're just now noticing this. Now there's going to be a big uproar and education is going to get interrupted. Anybody know how to say stupid in German?

From the opening I thought that the controversy was in Germany. It's not. It's good old Texas that has the problem. And it's not that the picture is of nudes; it simply shows a newsstand with a magazine in the background that has the picture. In other words, you've got to be searching or you're not going to see it.

Of course American adolescents are going to make a big deal of it once they've spotted it, and trust the adults around them to elevate the issue—which is why the kids have fun with it in the first place.

I took German for 6 1/2 years in middle school/ junior high/ high school and I don't remember anything this interesting in the books! lol

In watching the video, the only educated, reasonable comment was made by the student. He said "It's a clear lesson on other cultures" while his mother said "female breasts, right there in your face.....shocking"

Why oh why does our culture feel the need to protect our children from a breast, yet we allow our kids to play video games where they hijack cars, pick up prostitutes,commit murder, even plot to kill the pres.

These things are acceptable? A nipple is not?

Ironically, how many school shootings occur in cultures where nudity is acceptable and violence is less prevalent? Here in the old USA no nudity, but let them have violence. How many shootings happen in our schools?

You nailed it, ercNY. It's simply insane to me that kids of just about any age can watch all the murder, mayhem, rape, seduction, etc., etc., that they can stand. But let them accidentally see an actual human body—or even a tiny part of it, such as a nipple— and the world around them goes berserk.

As noted above, sometimes the only sanity on the scene comes from the kids themselves.

Yep, you can learn the language, but God forbid that you actually see what things are like in Germany! Amazing.

Just another fine example of the crazy world we live in.
It is perfectly acceptable saturday night entertainment to watch people gunned down by machine gun fire, so long as none of them actually say "F**K" as they die. But the sight of a female breast, even one that can be no more than a few pixels in the corner of a much larger picture and they all start screaming "It's Disgusting!!!"
If these breasts are so disgusting then how can so many of these complainers actually carry them around all day? Surely they should do the right thing and have them removed, after all the kids are all grown now and they serve no useful purpose other than to disgust their wearers.
