On the 7th of April our three Free Beach group representatives, headed by the Canterbury Regional Chairman, Chris Arnold, went to the New Brighton police station to have a chat with Senior Constable Shane Thompson.
He was pleased to let us know that his informal discussions with the Christchurch City Council have brought forward an agreement that the beach area 100m to the north(left) of the Heyders Road entrance to Spencer Park will henceforth be accepted as a clothing optional beach( this is a direct quote from the FBG newsletter)
For me,this brings to an end the uncertain status of the FBG locations , which had to be shifted in order to head off the unwanted attentions of less than genuine "nudists" or indignant moral crusaders.
But, as this is the beginning of winter here, we will have to coll our heels for quite a few months yet.
However, here in Chch we have swim evenings in the heated swimming pool of the Burwood hospital over the winter months
