Caliente Resorts, often billed as the “Ritz-Carlton” of Pasco County nudist resorts, has been temporarily suspended from the American Association for Nude Recreation.
The suspension is over allegations that Caliente had been associating itself with swingers groups through third-party Web sites, said Doug Butler, president of the Caliente masters association, which represents the hundreds of homeowners and condo owners who live near the resort.

I think this is something that is long overdue. This is a beautiful resort that is calling itself a family friendly resort. However when you advertise on known swinger sites and attend the largest swinger festivel, it is a contradiction of what nudism is about. In today's world the press and media make their money on basically destroying anything or anyone that is good. This situation can have a real negative effect on the perception of our lifestyle. There are already the great misconceptions about nudism, and associating with the groups that Caliente is and creating the environment they have will undermine all the work hard work nudist of the past and present have done to promote nudism in a positive light. I listened to Angye Fox and another represntative of Caliente try to defend themselves on the raido today. This was on the Ron and Ian show on the Sports Animal in Tampa. Ange Fox is as a representative of Caliente said she will be attending " Swingfest " as the featured speaker. This is the worlds largest swingers party and adult expo. The other represtative was telling listeners about there upcoming weekend theme parties. They have Rock and Roll star weekend. Their exact words were ' Be a rock star and dress and act like a porn star ". Sounds like a family nudist resort to me, what do you think. Would you bring your family there? I also remember Ange Fox being featered a while back in the AANR Bulletin in their nudist profile. I think AANR should really reconsider this all before even thinking of letting them back in. I am sure there are a lot of members of Caliente that are nice longtime nudists that believe in AANR and TNS. I am sure they are not happy with the resorts direction. I know I wouldn't be. We have so many positive things going on in our lifestyle. the youth camps, the Nude revolution ( Youth Ambassors ), and Clothes Free, doing so much to attract newcomers to our lifestyle. I am all for enjoying yourself and having fun, but as nudsits their has to be a line drawn. Swingers are everywhere, not just nudist resorts. I am all for people enjoying whatever they like if it makes them happy and they are not harming or offending others. What people do in private is their own business. However when you seek out groups, advertise and attend known festivels for lifestyles like swinging, you are going against what nudism really is about and making the misconceptions people have appear to be true. We already have groups trying to close our beaches like San onofre. We have had idiots like Mark Foley try to bring down the youth camps, only to be exposed years later as the type a pervert we protect our youth from. We do not need this type of negative press. AANR and TNS needs to stand firm. Money is not everything, I would rather pay more for my dues, than to give into to something that goes against the princaples of the lifestyle I love. If you like to hear the Ron and Ian show, here is the link. You can lsiten online. Their show is on in the mornings. Caliente has been advertising on this station for the past year.

Paragraphs, now and then, make easier reading. :)

Money is not everything, I would rather pay more for my dues, than to give into to something that goes against the princaples of the lifestyle I love.I imagine you'll be wanting AANR to stop taking advertising revenue from Go Classy tours then? The AANR website includes advertising with a hotlink to Go Classy's website, where they sell trips to Hedonism with the words "For over 17 years, Go Classy Tours, Inc. has discretely handled reservations for thousands of couples and singles who want to be wicked for a week! Hedonism II, on world famous Negril Beach, and Hedonism III at Runaway Bay, were created as a reward for all those times you've had to deny your basic instincts. In these lush gardens of pure pleasure, the word "no" is seldom heard. ..... And with absolutely everything included in one upfront price you never have to think about money. Not even tips. Just what to do next. And when. And with whom."

I just returned from 3 days at Caliente, 2 days at Paradise Lakes and 2 days at Lake Como to see and experience things for myself. All are very different from each other in amenities, staff, ambience, membership and, of course, fees.
My understanding is that the suspension is currently a temporary one, and Caliente is in continuing talks with AANR. From a good source, I also understand the resort is well aware of the ill-feelings some of its marketing efforts of late have produced.
From a personal standpoint, the only time I felt uncomfortable at Caliente as a card-carrying (FCN/INF) naturist since 1995, was when I seemed to be the only nude person in the dining area on a couple of occasions. But swinger activity? I didn't see or seek any.
I agree that overt marketing to swingers does damage a nudist resort's reputation, but I also think it's not smart to "throw the baby out with the bathwater" without investigation, discussion and mediation.

I agree that there should be an investigation. Hopefully things will work out. hoever I know there are other upscale places in like Hedonism and other clubs. Are they going on live radio saying they are family friendly. Then the person on the radio says they are the featured speaker at Swingfest as a rep from the resort. I heard it myself. What I am saying is there has to be a libne drawn. What kind of resort do you want to be. Swingers are everywhere, I know. But if the media starts to criticize nudism and link them to sex and swinging, we will no longer be moving forward to attract more to experince the lifestyle. I myself do not want to keep answering the questions and definding my lifestyle because large resorts want to say they are nudist, but then advertise on so called lifestyle sites and conventions. I think this is a very dangorous issue that has to be addressed and resolved.
Caliente is a beautiful resort, and I would like to see it fourash and be known as a first class nudist resort that welcomes everyone. Not a lifestyle resort, that marketing is going to turn away the longtime nudists, and what about the people who invested in the place to make there home there.
