Okay! Whitestokes here, with another topic starter concerning the new channel family member to the Discovery line up; Planet Green! With the ever growing movement to be more eco friendly these days and the very high dependencies that our planet is using fossil fuels, it’s about time a channel such as this has come along. However this is a naturist base online forum, whereas issues concerning nudity related information or naturism in general is usually the main topic of conversation around here and with this new Planet Green Channel I see no different then the new commercial advertisement that is being displayed throughout TV land. The title and the true meaning behind their new commercial is pretty straight forward by saying; “Get Exposed to a Whole New Green!” which is to me a great new way of practical thinking of a world (especially in the south where AC units are used a lot more often) of just going naked would be more eco friendly. However, my fellow members of Clothesfree.com check it out for yourself from this YouTube clip:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tDLHZ7Y7fU0&hl=en"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tDLHZ7Y7fU0&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Now there is another topic on this forum that is also cater to nudity within advertising media, of various TV ads and commercials that have bombarded us throughout the years, (please click here; http://www.clothesfreeforum.com/showthread.php?t=5669&highlight=bluefly) but I just had to give this particular Planet Green channel commercial ad it own recognition, due to it kind of made a little sense in the practical ness of it. Especially due to the raising prices of gas alone!

:( I tried to watch and it says that the video is no longer available. I do like the concept though.
I agree, that in the south, nudity would save A/C and be a green alternative. It would also be very practical several months of the year here in one of the icier parts of Canada. Sadly, nudity would not be a green option in the winter here, since our temps can plummet to -40C or so. I personally would be burning more fossil fuels if I were nude in those temps! Though, we may be building a house in the next couple of years and have thought of geothermal with radiant heat. I suspect it would create a home that allows for more nudity in the winter. :)
Speaking of commercials, I saw the Honda ad with the nudists on an Edmonton station last night. Good one!

Thanks for the commercial!!!! I think the nude ads are normal and naturals.... positive naturism and nudism
greetings from Costa Rica
I love it! The expression on the guys' face behind her is priceless.
I love the line at the end, "Nope, just naked!"
You know, that could really be a talking-point for the Green movement: spending more time with less clothes and less A/C in the summer. We do it!

On the other hand, if you want to sleep naked in the winter you need to keep your room warmer because you could get a cold...
Anyway, the real reason why people do not want to get naked have very little to do with the temperature...

Actually you stay warmer if you sleep nude under the covers - clothes don't allow your body heat to fill the area under the covers with heat.
Try it sometime. It's cold getting in the covers naked and waiting for them to warm up but you'll wake up nice and cozy. My wife and I put it to the test over Memorial Day weekend - we spent the first night of mid-40s temps naked under the sleeping bag and the second night (same temps) with sweatpants and hooded sweatshirts and were warmer the first night. Part of it may have been the naked cuddling that kept us warm though! ;)

Put extra blankets on. We keep the room pretty cool all winter, and sleep just fine naked.
You get a cold from germs, not from being cold. :)

It's so funny how common that misconception is. Cold itself doesn't cause the cold: extreme temperature variation which shocks your immune system which makes you more susceptible to germ infection is was causes the common cold.
Anyway, yes, put on more blankets and you'll actually feel warmer if you're nude then all bundled up with a million layers.

Yes, but two much blankets are not very confortable either. Anyway, in Quebec, we rarely have a nice temperature to go outside. It is either way too cold or way too hot and humid in the summer. There are parts of Quebec where the temperature is just nice in the summer such as Gaspésie, but in South of Quebec, the temperature changes very fast from the too cold to the too hot and humid. So we need very good heating 8 months a year and a good air conditioning for 2 or 3 months a year.
But generally, I think that it is important to sleep in a warm enough room, because even if you have clothes, or a lot of blankets, theses things catch the cold air and your body has to fight to keep you warm. You may wake up with a stiff neck because you got cold air on in. Even your legs may become cold so I keep my room quite warm at night in the winter...

Thanks guys, I am glad that everyone has enjoyed it so far, but maybe I am thinking a little bit too much out of the box here, with me agreeing with the deeper message that the naked female at the Bank is trying convey to the gentleman behind her in the waiting line. To which, I highly agree with the concepts of wearing less to save on high utility consumption and that’s even including going naked. LOL…….
Although, in reality just going around naked in public places such as work, school and even a quick visit to the Bank, such the naked lady in the commercial, I pretty think that the local law enforcement would be happy to give you a trip to the local jail.

Yep, either that, or at least some extra attention from the constabulary (without the trip to the jail), or the psychiatrist. :)

This is a really cool insulation to get, and its totally green.
There are a number of ways to build green. I am so wanting to put solar on my house, but its just so expencive. :(

Our bedroom is 55 F in the winter. Sleep naked all the time. Even go naked for those trips to the toilet to pee. Gets a little cold waiting for it to dribble out sometimes.

Well then, I guess the only question that I must ask now is by someone who is truly living a nudist lifestyle, are they being Eco friendly. Kind of like the this National Geographic video clip that borrow from another part of this forum, but seem to fit the point of view that I am trying to stress of naturists who live the full time nudist lifestyle. In the terms of the Planet Green commercial fulltime naturists are most definitely eco friendly, indeed!

I love this commercial. I was telling people at work about it and they thought it would be funny to see on our TV's.

That is interesting.
We have an organization in the area that helps people become more green. I think they have members all over. They have some good ideas on their website at least.

Aren't all naturists part of the "green" movement. We don't have to wash clothes as often, thus saving water, detergents, electricity, etc. There is less pollutants from clothes manufacturing, you can go on and on....
Go green, stay green and all over tanned!

Truth be told, with the technology available nowadays, you can be on the grid and add photovoltaic (PV) panels to generate power and reduce your dependence on the pollution-producers one unit at a time, as you can afford them. There are even PV panels available nowadays that produce AC straight from the panel - no batteries or inverter required.
Add to that the cheapest way to harness natural energy, which is to use the sun to heat your domestic hot water. The technology is well-tried and tested, and there are many successful methods that suit all budgets. Plus, you can design your home to use solar gain to your advantage, too.
If you want to research and learn more, check out the resource for RE (renewable energy) and pretty much everything "green", Home Power magazine (http://www.homepower.com).
Do research it more - it isn't as expensive as folks have been led to believe!!
