I was wondering what everyone's prefrence was as far as a shaving cream or whatever. I like to use conditioner because it leaves the skin smooth after shaving.

For my face I use shaving cream. For the rest of my body I use an electric trimmer (I know, not true shaving) and than aloe vera cream on the sensitive parts.

I'm with nakedjohn on this one. Shaving cream for the face and dry shave everywhere else.

For my face, I use a good shave soap lathered with a brush since I also use a straight razor. For pubic area, I use mach 3 with shaving cream, but I think I am going to try dry with baby powder today.

I usually shave in the shower using shaving foam. (Indoors or outdoors) Occasionally I shave in the sauna - then I'm already quite damp and often use hair conditioner all over my body. Sometimes I will touch up dry.

With shaving, I use shaving cream, but that's mainly for the face. My torso, I have waxed until about mid-thigh level. Trim everything else.

I use the store brand shaving cream from the local supermarket chain. Paying more for name brand shaving cream doesn't seem to make any difference. I only use a little anyway as I only shave my face.

I have a fairly heavy beard and sensitive skin (painful combination). This means it's a blood bath when I use a new razor. Here's how I avoid cuts and get a close shave; first I throughly wet my face to soften my beard; second I apply hair conditioner (the really inexpensive stuff is fine) to help soften and lubricate by beard more; third, I apply saving foam and finally, shave. This routine works great for me and really reduces the amount of cuts I have when I use a new razor. The key for me is softening the hair by saturating it with water and the hair conidtioner then lubricating it with the shave cream so the razor glides smoothly over my face. It really works great!

I can relate. I have the same combination (heavy beard/sensitive skin). I have found that using a shaving gel in combination with a shaving brush works best for me. The brush really works the lather in and makes it easier to shave. I do not shave my body--only my face.

Any good lubricant works for shaving. Shaving cream is designed for it, but hair conditioner works very well too - that's what I use when traveling to cut down on things to pack. Barry Goldwater even recommended using peanut butter in a pinch (not chunky!). Soap and shampoo are not particularly good lubricants.

After Shave's purpose is not the smell, it is to disinfect the small cuts and scratches in the skin to prevent infection. Rubbing alcohol works, but I recommend Witch Hazel - it is an effective astringent with almost no odor and absolutely no stinging - it is cool and soothing.

I always use shaving cream.

I just use the shampoo or soap in the shower. It only take a min while in the shower and I am done. I like to shave every time I show. That means I shave every day. I like to keep smooth.

I think laser is the next step, but the cost is so expensive. I did try waxing but that was fine for two weeks. Not that much fun.

I'll use soap while in the shower every 2-3 days. (Shaving that is...... I do shower everyday) It seems the most convenient that way. Already there with water and soap.

ON my face I use a shaving gel and I also shave my head bald so on that large sensitive place I use a lotion especially made for that. If I am in a hurry I will use soap, but it does not work as well and leaves my skin very dried out.

I use a powder called Magic. It is a depilatory cream. The container says it is only for the face, but I tested it in a small area and I have been using it for a few years.

I find that the moisturizing body washes (Dove) work great for shaving in the shower.

I've used all listed methods, but 9 times out of 10 use soap. I prefer liquid soap. Conditioner is really great. I would use it more, but it is more expensive than soap.

I've used both hair conditioner to soften the hair and then cover it with shaving gel. This works really well for me as I have sensitive skin and fairly coarse beard so many times when I shave especially with a new blade I get a lot of cuts. For body hair (groin area) I generally just use hair conditioner after I've been in the shower for a few minutes and the hair is getting saturated. Good luck finding what works best for you.

For my face I use shaving soap with a brush. For the rest of the body I shave in the shower. I use a body soap as a base to shave and re-apply if it washes off.

I tried hair conditioner but I find it clogs the shaver. It did leave the skin smooth though. Might try it again during the winter months.

I tend to use traditional shave soaps and creams...for males i recommend C.O. Bigelow, available at bath and body works in US and as POROSO overseas...its a mental cream and leaves an amazing minty cool and smooth feeling after the shave! Its an amazing feeling on my scrotum however, i would attempt to avoid your buttocks with it lol.

For my face, its always the electric razor. I've been using it since I started shaving at 14 or so. Above and on the package, it just gets a close trim with another closer cutting trimmer, and maybe occassionaly the electric razor.

I have used soap in the shower for years along with a disposable 3 blade razor. I am going to tey the hair conditioner though -- never really thought about that. Tried the electric razor route but it took forever for the entire body. After shaving, i rub down with either alcohol or medicated lotion.... both work to sooth the skin as well as keep the red bumps to a minimum

I use a Gillette razor. Just on the cheeks and neck to tidy up around the beard.
