A Third of Women Afraid to be Nude in Front of Partner (http://www.internationalnudist.com/?p=5)

http://www.internationalnudist.com/Nudist_Blog/blog_images/nudist_getting_a_drink.jpgThe Daily Mail reports on a (British?) survey (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=445068&in_page_id=1770) showing a 1/3 of women won’t be seen nude by their partner around the house. The Daily Mail reports “Images of stick-thin models and digitally-slimmed celebrities are convincing a whole generation to keep their clothes on at all times.”
Is this the world we want to live in? Reject body shame today!

That is very sad. There are so many factors playing into this, that I am not sure it will get better anytime soon. When I see women wearing ultra padded bras lest their nipples show, I think that things are not moving in a good direction.

I am participating in a discussion on another thread. We have talked about how brafree women are often portrayed as sluts. I think women who are confident with their bodies have been portrayed in a similar light through the years. At the very least, a woman who has a good body image is suspect.

Sanslines has called attention to a major cultural issue that plays out in lots of ways. The survey relates to the UK, but probably wouldn't be a lot different in the US.

Among other problems related to body shame we can cite sometimes fatal and always life altering eating disorders among girls and women, and an increased rate of suicide among teen boys who take steroids because their natural body is unacceptable to them.

I have not seen anybody with a perfect body, there is always something, so what is the problem with all these people.

The heart of being socially nude is accepting yourself as you are. When you accept yourself others will accept you too. Breaking through that barrier is the zen of nudism.
