Award winning journalist and host of Democracy Now (http://www.democracynow.org/), Amy Goodman, was then violently manhandled and handcuffed and dragged out of camera range by the gun-thugs protecting republicans from hearing the voice of protest, as she attempted to cover a street demonstration outside the republican convention. Goodman is known for her fearless and courageous coverage of issues affecting ordinary people and which are so often ignored by the MSM.

More than this was going on in the Twin Cities though. You heard about the raids at houses, even before the convention started? Yeah pretty tough.
However police brutality was not just at the republican convention it also happened at the democratic convention. An ABC reporter was pushed into traffic and arrested for attempting to see who was going into one of those secret parties companies were holding for democrats.

Better to call Amy Goodman an activist than a journalist. She's anything but non-partisan.

And Hannity, Coulter, O"Reilly will relinquish their claims to being journalists, when?
But, the irony of your comment is that you and Bill Clinton share the same opinion of thie award winning, iconoclastic journalist...
"When President Bill Clinton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Clinton) called WBAI on Election Day, 2000, for a quick get-out-the-vote (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Get_out_the_vote) message, Goodman and Gonzalo Aburto (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gonzalo_Aburto&action=edit&redlink=1) challenged him for 28 minutes with questions about Leonard Peltier (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Peltier), racial profiling (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_profiling), the Iraq sanctions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_sanctions), Ralph Nader (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ralph_Nader), the death penalty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_penalty), the North American Free Trade Agreement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_Free_Trade_Agreement) (NAFTA), and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli-Palestinian_conflict). Clinton defended Democratic policies against criticism, but charged Goodman with being "hostile, combative, and even disrespectful"
Would this be the first instance for you of agreement with Bill Clinton?

Hannity and Coulter do not claim to be journalists and both clearly state they are conservative, Hannity being opinion programming. Rush simply says he is entertainment. Can you provide similar statements from Amy Goodman? If she's publicly proclaiming she has left-oriented opinion show, then I'll retract my statement. Of course, that would confirm my statement, wouldn't it?

Actually since I did not mention that drug addled buffoon, Rush, I'll stipulate with you that he offers no journalistic pretensions.
As to that miserable crank and molester of women, Bill O'Reilly does make such pretensions, having once lied about receiving Broadcast journalism's highest award, the Peabody.
That absurdity Hannity claims to be an anchor and singles-bar troll witch, Coulter, also makes claims to journalistic protections for herself when slandering innocents.
Your claim seems to be that Amy, because she covers issues ignored by the MSM, is an actrivist and not a journalist. Sorry, but muckraking is what a good journalist does, as all the awards she has earned recognize and affirm.
She takes on power and exposes the lies and abuses, rather than actring as a cheerleader to power, corruption, and debasement of the American dream.
It is just another of those sef-contrdictions you conservatives put yourselves in. You claim to mistrust the liberal media, but, when and independent voice focuses the light on all abuses, you revile them as leftist activists because thwey don't parrot the party line and reinforce your prejudices.

Here's some friendly advice! If there ever is a Civil War in your country this is what you do first.
You round up all the people that work in the Mainstream Media and throw them into WORK CAMPS. Work them 14 hours a day,7 days a week.MAKE THE LAZY BUMS PAY FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE!
Have you noticed that during these events you always have 100 or so protesters causing trouble,MAJOR TROUBLE. You will notice 3 common things about these protesters.
-They have thier faces covered.
-They are wearing civilian clothes,BUT notice the footwear, looks like POLICE or MILITARY issue footwear.
-The police seem to let them run rampant and let them taunt peacefull protesters, thus causing a confrontation. Then the police step in and arrest the people being taunted.
Remember the WTO riots in Seattle in 1999? It was 40 to 50 protesters that walked down the street smashing windows and whatever. The POLICE DID NOTHING until after the trouble makers dipersed into a vacant building and then ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE!
THEY ARE CALLED 'AGENTS PROVOCATEURS'
They are payed by the STATE to cause TROUBLE!

It is just the "state" we're in right now. Wish I'd seen this before I posted a reply about "hecklers".
But, back to my point, we've swung to a very, very authoritarian mindset here in America. It crops up here in the forum from time to time. And pervades everything.
Witness the icon for moderators of this forum, do you see scales of jsutice? do you see a wise black-robed judge? do you see a sage old owl? Hell no, you see a threatening, sun-glasses wearing, square jawed cop with billy club in hand. Read the TOS, it is a banning offense to 'question" a moderator--hasn't actually been enforced that I know of, but it is there--as I said, it is a mindset that pervades a certain element here and throughout the country.
And, truthfully, there is no "when" to our civil war, it is well underway, and it will be determined partly at the polls this November and then again in 2010.

usmc1, it is not hard to notice this authoritarian attitude in my day to day activities.I had to give a company name for my cash purchase of Grade 5 bolts for a project. I asked why. They said: In case the bolts fail and you get hurt, then you have no recourse against us.
Not long ago,I was having a drink with a friend in a bar and two police officers walked in.I pointed my finger at my friend behind his back,to make it look like 'Is this the guy your looking for?' I got told not to 'pull such stunts' by the cops! Things are getting wierd up here in Canada as well!
In Britain, the schools are telling the students to 'rat out' parents for not using energy saving compact fluorescent bulbs!
I get most of my news from 2 sites. www.infowars.com and www.prisonplanet.com
I dont bother much anymore with the Mainstream Media. Fox News is the worst of the bunch!
