I know it probaly wasn't the smartest thing I ever did, but it all worked out well and I had a great time doing so. The wife, daughter and I went down to Destin,Florida a few weeks ago on the weekend the last hurricane brushed over near New Orleans. We arrived on Thursday evening and got settled into our rented condo for the weekend about ten thirty or so. near midnight, with the ocean looking like a huge lake, absolutely waveless and the moon and stars shining and a warm summer breeze blowing, I decided the beach was calling me home. I couldn't get any interest from the wife in going for a late-night beach walk, so I took off on my own. Taking only a flashlight and wearing only a pair of shorts, I hit the beach. After fifety yards or so of walking in the moonlight along a fairly low lit section of the beach, I decided the shorts had to go. Off they went and the rest of my mile or so of walk along the waters edge was grand. I passed a few condo's along the way where there were people out on their decks or sitting at the top of the dunes but felt sure no one could see my nude soul pass by and what if the did, I'd be gone off into the dark before they even realized I was nude. When I returned to near the staircase back up to our condo I was bubbling with enjoyment of this wonderful outting and had to make it better. I had a waterproof flashlight with me, that I had hardly used along the walk. As I walked out into the ocean I submerged the LED flashlight into the ocean to see if I was going to be fishfood, mainly a sharks meal or not. With the ocean so calm and the beautiful white Destin beach sand so clean the ocean water all around me for twenty feet lit up in a grand halo of soft blue light. Enough to give me a sense of security in walking out into the ocean at one in the morning all alone and nude. I hung out a bit and dunked under the water for a moment, as I had only ventured out chest deep or so. Too, I wanted to let the wife know I had taken a swim and for her to know how I had enjoyed it. Not sure why that is, but its the way I felt about it. I regretably retreated from the ocean and walked down the beach for a little to dry off before throwing on the shorts and returning to the condo. I've been skinny dipping in the ocean at night before, but its been a long time ago and it wasn't in a nudist scenario then, but thats another time and story. I didn't get any slack from the wife when I returned and thats a good thing, because it had been a wonderful evening on the beach. Sorry for being so long winded, if you made it this far, but I was long overdue this good time and had to share it.:)

Isn't that what fishermen do to attract fish....you know...the small bait fish kind that sharks go after? shocked

Thank you for this post. I am sure just about everyone here can relate to how you felt and given the opportunity would do the same as you.
Many years ago I had a similar walk along a beach in San Diego. It was early morning with a medium fog and I was walking from the Torrey Pines beach parking lot to the clothing optional section of Black’s Beach about a mile or so away. There were only a few cars in the parking lot and I could not see anyone else in the area. It did not take me long to remove my shorts and enjoy the walk as it should be done.
I did pass a few people out fishing, however with the fog and the very low tide most did not even notice me going by. There where a few who did see me but the only reaction I got was just a nod or a good morning.
In all my visits to the beach this stands out as one of the best ever.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I said that to myself. :)

Ha! we'd both be rich guys I guess. At the time and maybe too many I live for the moment, but deep down, do kinda think it through a bit. Most of the time.

Would there were more opportunities like that. I'm scared to do stuff like that in the US as uptight as people can get. I have done it more than once in the Caribbean. This year on vacation we were not on a nudist beach, but I would walk way out until I was a distance from others and then pull my suit off and swim and walk around holding it in my hand. One day there were realy rough waves and I though it could get interesting if somehow I lost the thing.

Just came back from vacation 2 days ago I was at ocean city in maryland over looking the beach and was able to watch the sunrise from our balcony nude each morning. We were lucky toget a room on the 6th flr. I do not know if any one was able to see me but it was a great way to start my day.

I too would be a rich man if I have a nickel for every dumb thing I've done. Two years ago I was down in the Outter Banks of NC where the water is always changing the land formations and found a brand new stretch of beach. I had to do the right thing and sit naked on it for a bit. Granted, it was only about 8 minutes tops but I had a blast. Then I saw someone walking toward me and had to cover up. To me - these are the fun things people do and no one gets hurt.

... and judging by the responses to your post, nudeinbama, there are a lot of great minds on this forum! great story, well told. thanks for posting it.

the thing i would have worried about (before doing exactly what you did ... ) wouldn't be sharks but jellyfish. i've actually seen both in the florida gulf (the shark was actually in destin...) but only the jellyfish caused me any problems. the sting lasts a while! and i'd hate to get stung on my privates.

shortly after i moved to alabama in 1986 i drove down to sandestin from tuscaloosa with my u of a roommate and another guy from our dorm to stay with my roommate's friend (and the friend's mom and dad) in a rented condo on the beach. we arrived at night, met the friend and his folks, and somehow three or four of us guys (including the friend's dad) ended up skinnydipping in the gulf. one day it rained and was a bit cooler outside so nobody wanted to go in the water; i remember going outside in the drizzle with the three other young guys around dusk and deciding that i had to have that experience of nude swimming one more time. since the beach was essentially deserted except for the four of us, i shucked my t-shirt and swimsuit and ran into the water naked. the other guys thought i was crazy for doing that. now i know enough to know they were jealous! :-))

IMO, there ain't nothin' like a late night skinny dip. Even my wife (a reluctant spouse) agrees with that.

I tend to worry more about the jelly fish also, and yes, I certainly would hate to be dealing with scrubbing my privates to releive the pain of a jellyfish sting:eek:. Hope that never happens, though I've been fortunate, in that I've never been stung by one, but been told they sting like hell.
Thanks for all the positive replies, guys. It was memorible.:)

Hey Bama,

We were down there that same weekend. We stayed in Ft. Walton but went to the beach at Grayton Beach. There were a few jellyfish and some seaweed but that water was calm. We had the son and his gf with us so I didn't enjoy any nude time. But the reluctant wife wouldn't have let me anyway. But we had fun though and a Great Meal at the Fisherman's Wharf in Destin.

I've been to Grayton beach many times and eat at the fishermans warf a few.It was crazy seeing the ocean so calm, before the storm really moved in.I was actually at Blue Mountain beach myself. I just used Destin as a reference, because its better known.

I work until midnight and live right on the water so on hot summer nights I always go down to my beach and take off all my clothes and go for a swim

I've posted this before quite a while back, but can't resist doing so again in the present venue

On a warm summer evening, too many years ago, I and my teen-age friends skinny-dipped at the local swimming hole and were treated to a spectacular meteor shower as we lay on a ledge to dry off.

To echo what "nudeinbama" said about not being the smartest thing to do at the beginning of this thread.... myself and a female companion (who is not into the nudist scene) were down in North Miami Beach for a Miami Dolphins football game, staying at a hotel on the beach. Sitting on our balcony of the hotel room ovelooking the ocean we decided to go for a swim about 2 in the morning. After entering the warm water and not being able to see anyone around she decided to take off her bathing suit and swim naked and of course being a nudist I wasted no time in joining her. We stayed for about 25 minutes and had a great time, but never thinking what could be in the water with us. Happy to say we were not visited by any creatures both in or out of the water.
