I am not one to go around starting Today's Picture threads, but I really enjoyed today's. Nude bocce ball, the players getting into it, having fun and being competitive. How great. Thanks CFF!

I thought today's photo is pretty good. The setting is beautiful and it doesn't hurt that the people are young and fit though the "rubber chicken" look of a shaved guy does take some getting used to.

I'll have to agree. Those two have actually been two of my favorites over the past month or so. But don't forget, at nudist resorts it's petanque, not bocce! They're similar, but apparently there are some differences.
(don't mean to sound corrective... sorry if that came across badly... I only wanted to clear that up)

And Rebecca, Bools/Balls is together with Volleyball the most popular naturist sport. Don’t ask me why.

Last time my wife & I went to a resort I played a lot of volleyball. Loved it. It was funny because a husband and wife were on opposite sides, if they were facing each other there was a lot of poking and pinching across the net going on. It was pretty funny and had us all cracking up. :)

Since NATURE produces the hair, body hair IS more NATURAL.
Why would that contradict with "naturist" thought?
Would shaving all the hair off our heads be more "naturist" or "non-natural" :D

I agree that it's a strange comment. It bothered me when I first read it, but it's taken me till now to get up the courage to comment.
At the risk of being "voted off the island," I gotta admit that I'm often surprised at similar comments here. I mean, you people preach over and over that "no one judges." So, I would expect that a person's appearance would NOT be a topic of conversation.
Yet, there are a lot of comments here about who is pierced, shaved, and breast and penis size. If nudity is the great equalizer, then, these things shouldn't be mentioned.
Can we please be honest and admit that people DO look and form judgements? It's human nature. And, if these comments surface here, I can only wonder what is talked about in private about another's appearance.
From some of the comments, I sometimes think there is more pleasure in seeing and being seen than people care to admit.
Me? I'm naked at home. The only one who sees me is the cat. And, she doesn't seem to mind. Nor, does she point and stare or die from laughter -- But, sometimes, I do, when I catch my reflection in a mirror!

Can't remember what thread it was on, but someone posted on here a link to the results of a study conducted by a female nudist that showed that is kind of a nice sounding myth.
That there was just as much "small talk" or laughter and jokes about chubby women and small penises at nudist venues as among clothed people. That people don't just magically change because their clothes come off. We have our same attractions, personal likes and dislikes nude as clothed. We don't become neutered non-gender robots by the mere act of removing clothing and also the "laws of esthetics" don't change either (even though esthetics is highly personal depending on different personal views to a large extent.)

Josh, I can't tell if you are supporting me or criticizing my stance, but what you stated is exactly my point.
Over and over, we hear "No one cares," "No one notices," when, in fact, many people DO notice, giggle, and comment. It's naive to think otherwise.
I'm just saying, let's be honest and come out of the closet about it. I'm tired of the hypocrisy. As you said, by simply removing our clothes, we don't automatically become nonjudgmental, asexual beings.

I do not think this is true. Not that there is not any, but I do not think that there is MUCH MUCH less negativity and judgmental thoughts and comments towards other people.
I think people that attend clothing optional places will find that people could care less how big or small you are and would certainly not judge you based on that.
In fact.....The only people that we do laugh at are the ones that strut around trying to get you to look at how amazing they think they look. Of course we laugh because they have no clue why the rest of us are there.

I have been a nudist socially for quite some time, and I have YET to see anyone "giggle" at someones' appearance

My comments were prompted by someone's remark about the shaved guy, and someone else's remark that the shaved guy shouldn't have been commented on. I agree that the comment about the shaved guy was inappropriate, especially coming from another nudist.
For the sake of discussion, I'm merely stating that if people in a nudist forum feel it is appropriate to comment on another's body/appearance, such comments are probably made (in private) in real life settings. If true, this negates the "no one notices or cares" mantra.
I have nothing to base this on, but people are people. And, if someone is incredibly huge, small, pierced, hairy, or bald, I can't believe nudists wouldn't comment, just as textiles most likely would. It's just human nature.

Well no hard feelings, but unless you have some experience with nudists in their natural setting, you really can not comment on how we feel, act or react with other nudists.
I assumed you have never been, and I would like to encourage you to get out there and go to a good nudist venue. Then you can see what WE really are about.
Here are the facts:
Do people "notice" others? Yes
Are nudists MORE accepting of what some my deem "irregular"? YES
Are nudists LESS sexual than non nudists? NO
Do nudists laugh and make fun of others physical being? NO
Do nudists judge a person based on penis size, breast size, or belly size? NO
REAL nudists ARE very different than others. We are more accepting and open to others. And we really could care less about the things that others would poke fun at.
These facts are based on experience. I encourage others on these forums to GET OUT OF YOUR HOMES and visit a nudist club, resort or campground.

Just one question, Eric:
Do you think it was appropriate for another nudist to state "The setting is beautiful and it doesn't hurt that the people are young and fit though the "rubber chicken" look of a shaved guy does take some getting used to?" The quotation marks around "rubber chicken" are his, not mine.
Of course, he has eyes and can see, so it shouldn't surprise me that he noticed. But, it DOES surprise me that he felt it was worthy of a comment. I would never think of commenting on such a thing. To me, it just smacks of hypocrisy and tells me people are paying attention to things that they shouldn't. I'll bet he would never have commented if the guy had shaved his head.

Not only not appropriate, but also [IMO] an odd thing to say. When someone says something like that it makes me question their experiences with nudism.
Most nudists would notice things like the setting, the smooth rocks and can relate to how good it feels to be in a similar setting.
As far as people in the picture many nudists might make a comment on the contrast of the necklace against his skin around his neck. I would bet that many did not even notice the tattoo on the ankle when looking at Melanie.
This may offend a few, but it really makes me wonder what goes through some peoples mind when the penis is the center of the photograph, or when a good looking woman is in the picture all they see is the breasts. The greatest details of the photograph are invisible to some that focus solely on the nudity.

I wish I could find the link to that study done by that genuine nudist lady that was posted on here about nudist beaches and clubs.
I personally have no experience because I've never been able to go. I did stumble upon a small nudist area on a beach once back when I wasn't open to naturism at all, and when I mentioned it to some other non-nudists from what they said it had a very BAD reputation for pick-ups and sexual activity in the bushes during the summer. (I stumbled upon it when it wasn't full summer and people didn't swim yet. The day earlier I had walked by there and it had been only textile families, kids on bikes, and fishermen and the very next day it was a few nude people and since I never knew there was any nude area to begin with, I asked the locals about it.)
Nudists definitely NOTICE. There's no way around that. You'd have to lie to say a person is not noticed if they are as skinny and bony as a skeleton or if they weigh 300+ lbs. People who are also very pretty or very handsome or have very nice bodies are also going to be noticed. I think anything else would be a lie. I also think other minor physical "endowments" nudists will notice. However what I do believe is that among nudists there is a CHOICE to be open minded and accepting. That there is acceptance and openness toward all (except maybe toward single males at many clubs from what I've read, LOL)
I think nudists are definitely more accepting and affirming. In fact from what I've read of textile visits to nudist beaches they almost joke about the fact that the people you'd "like to see naked" are not what you are going to see mostly and the ones you see are the one's you wish they'd put their clothes back on! I've read that comment more than once from non-nudists, so that does show that nudists ARE more accepting even if the non-nudist's comment is or is not true.

Not only not appropriate, but also [IMO] an odd thing to say. When someone says something like that it makes me question their experiences with nudism.Well, I wouldn't comment on an individual who posted his photo, because that would be rude. But shaving and piercings and tattoos are a decorative choices that people make, rather than the body that you are born with. Discussing those fashions does not seem any stranger to me than dicussing clothing fashions. I don't like baggy pants that hang from halfway down a guy's butt, with six inches of boxer shorts sticking out. It looks ridiculous. Women often wear bathing suits that are cut close to the crotch, so they often shave there. As the suits got smaller, the patch of pubic hair got smaller or disappeared. Shaved pubic hair became a fashion in and of itself. Some men have copied this look. I still think it looks strange on a guy. I have a pony tail, and some people think it looks unattractive because I am a guy. So people make fashion chioces, and different people are going to have different reactions, often based on what the popular style is. And people naturally talk about it.

I have to emphatically agree with EricNY. I have never heard or witnessed pointing or giggling. That "study done by a genuine nudist lady" is absurd and sounds highly unscientific. If people acted the same ignorant way as they do in the clothed world we would never see anyone at nude venues except persons with "perfect" bodies.
Sure we notice people, everyone we see. We have eyes after all. But the beauty of the human body in all shapes and sizes is what makes life interesting and makes nudism a wholesome place to be and the people there approachable and fun to be around.

I personally have no experience because I've never been able to go.
Assuming you're over 18 - and able to get to a club gathering or resort, there's no reason why you CAN'T go.
I did stumble upon a small nudist area on a beach once back when I wasn't open to naturism at all, and when I mentioned it to some other non-nudists from what they said it had a very BAD reputation for pick-ups and sexual activity in the bushes during the summer.
Some public places become "cruising" spots. It's up to the regulars that frequent those beaches to maintain order and to prevent that.
As far as private resorts -- most won't allow that. The ones that encourage it and welcome it are usually dropped from the "organized nudist" structure.
Nudists definitely NOTICE. There's no way around that. You'd have to lie to say a person is not noticed if they are as skinny and bony as a skeleton or if they weigh 300+ lbs. Well, we do notice but as was said earlier, it's how we process what we see that is different. Yes, textiles who visit nudist beaches for the first time get into giggly, embarrassment type of situations and can't "process" what they see in an accepting manner.
And I wouldn't say that MANY clubs don't accept single males -- almost all do, but try to maintain a gender balance at their facilities. And in these times, it's a limited number of parks that have such rules.
I've read that comment more than once from non-nudists, so that does show that nudists ARE more accepting even if the non-nudist's comment is or is not true.
Ever so true.

Sorry for the delay in replying. It was near the Tan Hill Inn (http://www.tanhillinn.co.uk/) where I was one of the organisers for a nude weekend, it included a walk, but the weather was so lousy we stayed clothed, until the stream where we posed for pictures to be published in H&E magazine.
The photos were taken near Keld (http://www.multimap.com/maps/?zoom=11&countryCode=GB&qs=dl116ed#map=54.40406,-2.1576%7C14%7C4&bd=useful_information&loc=GB:54.40451:-2.16764:14%7Cdl116ed%7C) and despite there being several textile walkers we never heard a complaint, some even came over to watch the nude nutters in the freezing stream.
There's talk of a 191 mile walk from coast to coast next year, some of it may be done in the buff, and I fully expect some skinny dipping.

Coming late to this thread the noticing and commenting on other nudists' physical attributes, fashions, etc. Seems this statement might summarize the discussion -
To notice is human; to keep silent is divine.
I am personally fascinated by and grateful to the Creator for the beauty to behold in the infinite differences expressed individually in all his human creation. The beauty of each person - regardless of physical attributes - is a wonder to behold. Yes I notice and give thanks to the Creator.

Since NATURE produces the hair, body hair IS more NATURAL.
Why would that contradict with "naturist" thought?
Would shaving all the hair off our heads be more "naturist" or "non-natural" :D
To be honest, I am new here. I am a nudist at heart, but have a wife who is very much not. I have never been to a social nudity setting.
I have been thinking about what would be thought of trimming/shaving the pubic region by others and I have a question.
Do naturists style the hair on their heads or shave or trim their facial hair?
From the photos I have seen, I would have to say "yes". So, if that is the case, then what is the difference to styling hair on other parts of your body? I have friends who have heads that are bald enough that they choose to just shave what they have and go completely bald. If naturists really meant "Your body needs to be left in its natural state", then wouldn't the hair on their heads be very long and wouldn't every man have a full beard that was never trimmed?
I feel like I could go on and on with all kinds of examples of things people do to change their bodies. If someone wants to wear clothes or get a tattoo or a body piercing or even shave different parts of their body, what would make it unnatural from a naturist's point of view?
Based on what I understand from the majority of the naturist community, that they want to promote body acceptance, I would hazard to guess that the unnatural thing would be to do something solely because another person or group of people want you to do it.
Am I understanding the average naturist correctly?

Naturism is about nudity, not hair. Do whatever you like.
