Only a matter of minutes ago while listening to the radio(SeaFM 101.50MHz Rockhampton), their newsbreak announced that the Federal Government is moving to illegalise all art containing naked images of children without exemption. There are many very old Christian artworks consisting of naked children. Guess we'll Christian images banned as well.

I am so ******* glad I never voted for this dictator. Chairman Rudd's government has already started moves that will see Internet Providers compelled by law to monitor every single one of their customes internet usage and report all activity to the Federal Government. Any site that is labelled as a "hate site" such as Australia First will be banned for they simply disagree with the concept of multiculturalism. Yet political websites that are calling for Jihad against the west are going to remain ignored. Yep, ******* ridiculous!

All that blood spilt on the lands of European and Asian nations, completely wasted.

It will be interesting how that use this new proposed law. Legislating artistic taste is the first step toward a dictatorship or other similar oppressive governments.

And in the process, Rudd has insulted a young girl, now 11-years-old. A story in the Sydney Morning Herals (http://www.smh.com.au/news/arts/naked-girl-offended-by-pm/2008/07/07/1215282805312.html) has the girl, Olympia Nelson, whose artistic nude picture taken by her mother when she was 6 (picture is shown in the story) graced the cover of Art Monthly Australia talking about how she was offended when Ch. Rudd stated that he "cannot stand" the picture.

Olympia's response: "It is one of my favourites, if not my favourite photo, my mum has ever taken of me, and she has taken so many photos of me," she said. "I think that the picture my mum took of me had nothing to do with being abused, and I think nudity can be a part of art.
"I'm really, really offended by what Kevin Rudd had to say about this picture."

Good job, Mr. Rudd. Insulting a young girl by stating you could not stand her picture!

After all the controversy (http://www.clothesfreeforum.com/showthread.php?t=12753) that happened, and the way this guy talked about the pictures you knew this was coming. Its terrible that things like this even happen in the first place. While it's true that children need to be protected, people's best intentions can go too far such as in this case. Fear and paranoia over child pornography is a big problem and is causing some people to see sexual things where there is none. In a perfect world every photo would be judged on a case by case basis and there would be no need for a blanket law like this.

Has Mr. Rudd been subject to psychological evaluation?

Seriously. We all know that the most ardent opponents of perversion are those who are most horrified by their own urges.

Not that child pornography or abuse should be in any way dismissed, but it takes a real pervert to see its potential at every opportunity, and a powerful sense of denial to blame your temptations on others to such a degree that the world must change to protect you from your own self horror.

Now I don't know if Mr. Rudd just doesn't like one particular artist's work, or has an internal compulsion he is exorcising in public, or has just been poisoned by the typical western nudity allure/repulsion duality that the consumer society uses to sell us soap and cars. But it does seem his reaction is a bit over the top.

Oh, and just an off topic aside; I think it is very likely that any site that "disagrees with multiculturalism" most probably is a hate site. I'm just sayin'

At the risk of going off subject, that is rubbish. I personally do not support multiculturalism. This does not make me a hater.

What a sham all this is. This will actually be popular policy with the people who support hiding children yet releasing child sex offenders back on the streets. The Australian Labor Party of which Chairman Rudd is of, has an extremely bad record of politicians being convicted for child sex crimes. I personally view the ALP as just one big political party formed for serious criminals.

Anyway, back to the subject, such a law should it become law, will also illegalise Anne Geddes: www.annegeddes.com

I notice that the article states that strict guidelines must be followed to receive gvt. funding. Simple solution: stop relying on the gvt. for your funding.

I could not agree more with that statement.

One thing I thought of is how restrictive are the guidelines, and who makes the final decision? I do not think I would want someone who is totally anti-nudity making those choices for me.

It would also be interesting to know how they would treat parents who photograph their children artistically. Would the photographer be allowed to sign the permission or would they require both parents? What if the other parent is dead or otherwise does not have any legal custody or has been absent for most or all of the child's life?
