The French article is more extensive but no nearer to an explanation. If anybody does know whodunnit, no-one is talking.

The clubs that were burned were for swigners (sex).

There is also many ideologies divisions in France, not just about naturism, but about many other things. For exemple Paris is a quite modern city, but if you go to the contryside, the attitudes may change charply.

If you want my opinion, thoses that burned thoses clubs were probably not naturists themselves. I would suspect the religious right (catholic, protestant or islam) to be the first
suspect in thoses matters.

Its unfortunate that the places were burned. Two wrongs do not make a right, but it is refreshing to see people standing up against a pervasive trend in nudism. I think nudism's acceptance in recent years has made many reluctant to judge anyone in nudismm, even the swingers. Heck, nudists even support strip clubs nowadays just to avoid being labelled as puritanical.

I, like a lot of other people, am not in the business of judging people who engage in activities that I do not wish to participate in but which do not harm other people. I judge rapists, murderers, and US presidents with no sense of responsibility for the consequences of their policies, but I do not judge swingers or strip clubs. And moralistic busy-bodies, especially when they are violent, are not refreshing; quite the contrary.
