Monsignor Lawrence J. Bukaty, pastor of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Carbon County Pennsylvania was charged with public lewdness last June after a park ranger saw him fondling himself at Gunnison Beach. He pleaded guilty July 30 to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct.
While most might look at this as bad publicity for naturism (not to mention the Catholic Church), it does a silver lining. Many people reading the article will now be aware that a legal nude beach exists within driving distance. I'd be willing to bet that no more than 1 out of 10 of the people in my area have any idea that Gunnison Beach exists.
