I just wanted to post a quick note to talk about an audition I did today. I saw an ad in one of our local papers for models draped and undraped. I called the number and spoke to the artist who told me what he does and who he is looking for. I was honest in telling him that I am not a muscle bound model and don't have a six pack abs and he said that was OK. I went by after work to see him. He very nonchalantly asked me to go into the bathroom and disrobe and return to the room. I thought I would be nervous but I absolutely was not. I did a few poses for him and he critiqued me but not in a bad way. When we were done he said that I would be a good model to work with. He is auditioning a few other people and will call me if I am selected.
Anyway, it was pretty cool. He teaches as well and mentioned doing a class. I would love that. It was just so... natural. Well, except for standing perfectly still. That was a bit difficult.

In the late 50's I earned $10 per hour part time in college as an undraped model in art classes. At the time all the nude models were male, and the female models wore a body suit. I had no problem with being nude in front of the class until during the first class of a semester I recognized one of the female students who was a friend and a former "date".
I was nervous during class and when the class ended, I quickly dressed and walked back into the classroom. My friend was waiting for me. After a few funny comments she made me comfortable with the situation. We dated several times during the semester and to my knowledge never told anyone of my secret.

What did this artist tell you about what he is looking for? What critiques did he make concerning your poses? How many models does this artist expect to work with?

Hey Sanslines:
He said he is doing a show in which he wanted more normal looking men. I weigh about 170 pounds, stand 5' 10", workout three days a week, and carry my weight in an average manner. I am not muscular at all and depending on the day I can have a little belly or not... just depends.
His critiques were positive. Nice legs/thighs, good curvature when needed, good stance. He didn't say how many he was working with just that he was auditioning more people.
Who know, it may not amount to anything but it was a neat experience. I would definitely do it again.
