Many polls on shaving..just curious if there are guys who do not shave body hair. Former shaver here, but now all natural.

Just an occasional trim, no shaving. Wife likes it that way.

I much prefer unshaved body hair - for me it looks and feels much more natural. Tried shaving it once and it itched like like mad when it started to grow back!

Apart from using nair on my back and shoulders, and shaving my armpits, I too am all hairy. I prefer the natural look and like my hairy chest.

I am natural also, only been shaved for a surgery a couple times. I trim the armpits for hygenic reasons.

I've shaved a couple of times but when the hair grows back, it itches! During the early summer months I take the clippers and just crop closely, head, crotch and armipits. .and repeat as needed. The reason is that short hair it makes the ticks easier to find. .and remove. I spend a lot of time hiking/wood cutting/strolling/mushroom picking in the woods in warmer weather and each time I get home, I have my wife check me for the pesky critters. Having had "tick fever" once before I go through great lengths to avoid another bout!! It seems that the durned things "hide" in hairy areas. .no/very short body hair. .no ticks.

I find it a chore just shaving my facial hair every day. I don't want the bother of shaving elsewhere too. Maybe if I was less hairy, I might feel differently.

I shave facial hair and that's it. I don't see any reason to shave the rest of my body to be honest with you.

I shaved my pubes a couple of times when I was younger but never all of my body hair. Occasionally I'll trim chest and pubic hair but can't imagine shaving it all. I don't want to be bothered wtih the maintennance. And who would I be trying to impress?

I shave my face, and I'd rather not do that. I used to have a beard, and I shaved it off because I am a Revolutionary War reenactor.

Good to see so many other guys who are into leaving their body hair intact! I was at Haulover Beach in north Miami and the guys who were not shaved out numbered the guys who were, maybe the trend of shaving is a thing of the past. I know, to each his own and that is great, but seeing more nudist men leaving their body hair alone is a nice trend to have back since I am very hairy and its too much up-keep to keep it shaved.

I usually rue these topics, but I think this one has sociological significance. Granted it's all media based, but that seems to be where we take our cues as a society. I think there is a return to accepting that men have naturally occurring body hair, after about a decade of out of control waxing and shaving. I've kept mine, though I trim a little off the neck.

Another hairy guy here. I've never had any desire to shave, but I do trim my body hair a bit in the summer. I just find it's cooler and more comfortable to have a little less when it's hot.

I'm just too hairy to shave. I do trim a bit. I have shaved in the past but just my pubes not the whole body.

Too much to do; too little time. I shave my face, and even that is a chore that at times gets left for 2 or 3 days.

Do not use Nair down there if your a guy. It burned for 3 days. It works great for wife but not me. I just trim pubes and shave Jim and the twins. I really dont have chest hair to worry about. I keep a goa-tee and thats all for the face.

I prefer the natural look, but I do keep my pubes trimmed back and occasionally shave "down there"

To each his own, but I can't for the life of me comprehend the obsession modern nudists have with shaving. I think it's another style that was picked up from Playboy and the porn industry, where models must be tanned the color of a tangerine and shaved just as smooth. Then again, I refuse to embrace trends, so my distaste for it may be no more than that.

Just my face. My body is covered in hair. It would be a major ordeal to shave it once, much less on a regular basis. It doesn't matter whether body hair is "in" or "out"--on me, it is here to stay.

Only shave legs and under arms. I'm with you Al, too high maintenance and yes, irritating. I like the natural look anyway.

sure..............nudists and natuarists
My idea is....... body is very much beutiful with hair in jenital area(male and female both)thats our natural things and it gives us the beuty, just compare shaved and unshaved pics. Its exactly like a forest and a desert. Which one is beutiful.......... think....... and why we lose our natural beaty by shaving.............

I shave my scrotum, and wear boxer-briefs. There, I answered two polls. Now this combo has eliminated jock itch! I also shave my face and aside from those two parts I'm a bear.

NudeAl is right, shaving is just another time-consuming vanity trip. I don't do it myself, and when I see it on other people it just looks unnatural rather than attractive.

I shave my face reluctantly for work because looking smart is expected and I don't want to give them any reason to black-mark me. But as my profile pic indicates, it's not my natural state!

I have the same attitude to expensive fashions, jewellery, cologne, piercings and tattoos - they all cost money, and they're all unnecessary except for reasons of vanity. And, like all unadorned human beings, I'm wonderful just the way I am. Isn't that the point of naturism? Being natural? Neither adding nor subtracting anything?

I just view grooming as part of the human condition -- humans afterall have been grooming since we were apes. We also groom our lawns and gardens. So if somebody wants to groom like Michael Jordon or Jamie O'Neal or Lil Wayne or Meg Ryan or Noodlebug -- well, whatever works aesthetically and comfortably for you is fine with me! If you overdo it, it may come off as vain. If you underdo it, it may come off as more slovenly than heavenly. The point is that naturism is not a beauty contest, but it does involve more grooming time since we're grooming more than what pops out of our shirt collar. Its fun to experiment with different looks, knowing that your naturist friends are going to be ok with however you show up.

Good answer.

I spend quite a bit of time outdoors, nude and textiled as the occasion may dictate, and being closely "groomed" provides fewer hiding places available for undesired hitchhikers.

For at least 100,000 years, and probably a lot longer, wearing clothes has also been part of the human condition, probably the main feature that distinguishes humans as humans.

I suppose the prerogative of being a rational free-thinking modern human is being selective in which aspects of your ancestry you choose to honour!

Probably longer - our ancestors lived through several ice ages.

But ...

The impulse to be clothed at all times under all conditions, rather than just when clothing made sense for warmth or protection or decoration is probably a pathology of more recent times.

In ancient times it was common for workers to be nude when working in the fields or fishing the seas - they would not want to soil or damage their precious garments while at toil. Mere nudity wasn't feared or abhorred under circumstances where it made sense.

Not until they invented culture, civilisation and religion anyway!

But my point is, palaeolithic man probably didn't wax his legs. I find it hard to believe he would even scrape them with a seashell. Just like clothing, grooming was originally functional, and it was almost certainly only in relatively recent times (certainly within the last 30,000 years) that it started having a cultural significance - either to mark out a tribe as distinct or for ceremonial reasons - more related to appearance than to its original purpose.

(30,000 years being the time period in which archaeologists have found the earliest ceremonial burials and fertility icons).

I would think an important aspect of nudism would be freedom of choice, whether it be woolie neanderthal, groomed, closely trimmed, or shaved.

I only shave my face since I do not think a beard looks good on me but I am curious about one thing. Are there any particular reasons to shave all over? Does it help with cooling the body when you are sweating? Is it purely for cosmetic reasons?

For me I started shaving because my doctor recommended it. I have very sensitive skin, and I use to have terrible rashes from heat and sweat. My doctor told me to get rid of the hair under my arms and around the groin areas and the rashes would clear up. He was 100% correct, because I haven't had problems since I started shaving about 10 years ago.

Thanks for that bit of information. It is something that I am considering if only for the experience. Would I be better served if I find a place that does waxing? The term is Brazil wax for an all over removal of body hair, correct? If I remember correctly, it cost about $80-100 and takes about 1 hour. Am I correct with the time / cost above?

I usually don't but I got bored this last Sunday afternoon and sat in the bathtub with a razor and now I'm as smooth as a baby's butt. Feels funny and looks worse. I'm sure I'll leave it alone once it grows out, unless I get really bored again....

I don't shave body hair. In fact, with the coming of cooler weather, I find myself wondering why I don't grow a 'winter coat' like dogs and cats (many animals) do? It's no fun being a "Naked Ape" sometimes.

To some extent, I think it's all a matter of what you're acustomed to having, or not having on your body. For instance, I've shaved my head during cold weather, and other than having to wear a wool watch cap, I was fine. Same for shaving other parts too. Like others have said, it's not so much the shaving, its the discomfort when, or if, you grow the hair back.;)
