In these days of cost cutting for businesses, one trend that has become popular in recent years is telecommuting: Working from home for a company that has established offices. When gas prices were high, it was a cost savings for the employee. Now that businesses are feeling the pinch of higher costs with potentially lower income, some companies can shut down office floors (lights heat etc) if an entire department or local branch has 100% telecommuting.

How many out there have a situation like that? And how many take the obvious opportunity to work at home in the nude? Have you taken a conference call (audio only obviously) with your co-workers or manager while in the buff? Ever participated in a web meeting while au naturel? Have you ever shared with your trusted co-workers about you normal at home dress code?

Just looking to spark a discussion to see what it out there. Have a great day!

I did it for 7 years before I retired last July. Took about 5 minutes to get used to it.

Wonderful experience, made 'working' a lot more tolerable, especially in the summer. I could take a quick break and run out to the pool in back for a quick refreshing plunge, then towel off and be back 'on the job' in a few minutes.

I also took many long boring conference calls out by the pool, catching some sun while listening in. I even delivered a WebEx training call in the nude a few times (audio only, no video from my end).

It was a real delight to be able to go for days at a time nude in the summer, except for brief visits to the outside world for errands, getting the mail, etc.

Later!

I am a commuter and I am able to work from home from time to time if I have an appointment during the day. Most times when I do this I work nude and yes I have spoken with my fellow workers many times on conference calls and such while being naked. I have not said anything about it them but it is normal for me when I am at home. I sleep nude as well and was wakened this morning by work due to an issue and worked the entire call naked. It would be great to be able to do work from home every day!

I "telecommute" three days a week. More in inclement weather periods.

Last summer when gasoline approached $4.00 a gallon here, it was great. Some days I get more done than I would in the office, some less. It has worked well, and I would rather spend time working than on the highway.

My company has a cell phone that is rotated around the office for people to call after normal business hours, if they need help. During times of warmer weather, I will answer the phone in the nude. During cooler winter weather, I will wear some sweats to keep warm.

I also sleep nude. If calls come in the middle of the night, I usually slip on a robe and maybe sweat pants during cooler nights. The only problem with this is that then the covers get cold. The last time I had a call in the middle of the night, I just drug my blankets to my couch and stayed wrapped in blankets. This kept the blankets warm, so when I went back to bed, the bed did not feel quite so cold.

I work from home full time and I am nude the whole time as well, except when I leave the house for errands, lunch, etc. Certainly I don't mention this during phone meetings, but I have often heard others mention that they work in their pajamas, for example...which makes we wonder how many of them are actually "not" wearing them instead.

Telecommuting is really far and away the best work method for those jobs which are capable of such a style. It is best for the worker's mental health, cheaper for the business, better for the environment, and best for our depleting resources. It really is time for the old-guard, 50's mentality managers and businesses to step up and 'require' a percentage of home working for all job skills which can be done that way.

I am a programmer and do most of my work at home, nude of course. I need to visit the office for meetings and conferences with colleagues or other reasons only one to three times in a month.

These days it seems funny to even ask this question, of course I've done many work calls in the buff, don't even think twice about it. But thinking back on it, I guess the first time or two it did seem a little "exposed" until it really sank in that the people on the other end of the phone *really* can't see me. :-)

And on this note, I'll mention that I found a *great* product for home nudists: A one-piece rechargeable cordless phone headset by Plantronics, which I think is called the "Home Edition Wireless Headset System". You wear it on your ear like a Bluetooth headset used with cell phones, except it ranges throughout your house like a normal landline cordless phone. Most cordless home phone handsets these days have jacks for headsets, but it's a pain in the neck to carry around the handset, and the headset wire gets caught on things if you're trying to clean, do laundry, iron, dishes, etc. I love this product! But note, it's pricey, I paid around $220 for mine at Fry's a year or so ago.

I work from home every day as a medical transcriptionist, and yes I do it in the nude. I don't ever have any conference calls, or any other calls from the company I work for for the most part, but of course when I have to make a personal business call I'm nude and it doesn't bother me. Once in a while I'll think, "if they only knew that the guy on the other end of this line was nude," but most of the time I don't even think about it anymore.
