It was on my list of resorts to visit the year. Truly a loss, I have heard such great things about the place.

I visited it a few times before it became Paradise Valley. Great facility, questionable reputation among Georgia and SC family nudists. It did seem to attract a rather eclectic mix of visitors; but I never witnessed anything "disturbing."

Still a loss for Georgia naturism.

I too had heard great things about this resort in Georgia. I am sorry to hear of its closing. I hope it will reopened soon. For those of you who were either members or have visited the resort, may you all cherish the memories you have. I am just sorry I never had the opportunity to visit them.

Oh man! This is horrible! Admittedly, I've been a Serendipity loyalist since I first visited, but Paradise Valley was always on my list to visit as soon as they had an event I deemed worth visiting for. I hope someone can swoop in and "save" the property, so that the clothing optional lifestyle in Georgia isn't forever down to only one place.

Does this mean no Fig Leaf 5K on April 25 this year? I was thinking I'd try getting in shape a little for that again. I did it last year for the first time. Still wanting to do some training and try it again. Hmmmm.....

I guess not, alfredr, which is a shame because I was considering going, too. But, the weekend before, Cedar Creek in South Carolina is having their nude 5k... you can decide for yourself if it's worth the drive. I've been there before, and it's a pretty nice rustic setup they've got there.

In this economy a lot of nudist resorts are struggling. it is extremely difficult for a large nudist resort to maintain a good cash flow without resorting to the sort of thing that has earned Caliente Resort & Spa a questionable reputation.

Does anyone know if Joe Lettelleir was the majority shareholder of Hidden Valley Resorts, inc.? To my knowledge he was still listed on some documents as the "owner" late as December, 2008.

I was there in 1996, when it was still Hidden Valley. My wife and I stayed there, tent-camping, for the first week of the Atlanta Olympics. The owner's name was Anita, and she was cordial, friendly, and ran a "tight ship". She bent over backwards to accomodate us, as we were arriving after hours. Very professional. Very good place.

I can recall -- she would employ the youngsters from the camp in the front office. She had some young ladies - who were perhaps 14-17 - ALWAYS dressed as if they were working at a business office in the city.

Down by the pool and sunning area, you would always see two or three guys working during the day -- weeding the lawn, mowing the yard, scrubbing the edge of the pool, cleaning the bathrooms, washing windows -- CONSTANTLY.

It was one of the nicest places I've ever visited in my 30 years of visiting nudist facilities. It wasn't ultra-modern. It wasn't ultra-luxurious. But it was immaculate, extremely well-maintained, and very well-run. My wife and I enjoyed our nine-day stay there during the Olympics, and we hope we can go back there sometime in the future.

I think $3 / gallon gasoline in 2007 and $4 gallon gasoline in 2008 was a huge factor... as well as the overall economy.

We have actually been in this recession for well over a year, and those who have jobs are counting their pennies and saving. That's not only the result of these economic times, but it CONTRIBUTES to the overall economic misery.

With gasoline below $2 now -- it's cheap again -- and the possibility it could (not saying it will- but it COULD ) fall into the $1.00-1.50 range by June, people might re-assess their plans. And a trip to a "Mom and Pop" nudist camp might just be the cure for the recessionary blues.

Paradise Valley has a bid on it. It rented out portions of the park to swingers since I can remember. I would never recommend that facility. There was some overt trolling and activity. Been there, won't go back unless something changes big time.

Cedar Creek is more than rustic IMHO. It has an indoor pool and indoor hot tub as well as a large "nudatorium" for dances and potluck suppers. They will have a race as will Carolina Foothills in the SC.

I might add, my endorsement of that site was based on my experience there when it was still Hidden Valley, and before it became Paradise Valley.

And my experience was 13 years ago.

I really hope that they re-open soon. I never made it to Serendipity since I liked the Valley and the people there. They always had some good competitive volleyball. The 5K run was always a very well run event.

I think my reasons for never making it to the Valley parallel yours... the people at Serendipity! I know it's not the best of circumstances, but take this as an opportunity to visit an equally great place that's just about the same distance from Atlanta. You won't regret it.

I got an E-mail today stating that the resort has a bid placed for new owners to buy the resort, but that it may be a long drawn out process. I hope to see it re-open as a good clean well ran nudist resort again.

Any news on the 5K? I'd have to try to get serious about training again. But that would be a good thing.

Kind of short notice. I'll see what I can do.
