I came across this blog entry linked on nudiarist's webpage.

As I was spending my Tuesday afternoon going through the old crate of family photos in my mothers living room, I came across something quite alarming.
A photograph of my hot 20something grandmother with my little mother and aunt all holding hands.
The alarming part, is that they were all naked. There were other people in the background. Naked people. My family was in a public place with free roaming naked people and they themselves were naked. Naked and holding hands.

Personally, coming across something like that, even before I became a nudist, would have absolutely fascinated me. I would have wanted to know everything about it, how it came about, what their experience was, how they felt about it, why they did not continue. Of course, now, I would have the pics reprinted and framed. But this is how the young lady reacts:

I was physically shaken and expelled the offending photo from my fingertips, face down onto the pile of pictures. I must have been visually disturbed because my mother immediately asked "What's wrong honey"?

Physically shaken and disturbed?! There she is, holding a piece of nudist history (the picture must have from the 40's-50's), AND family history in her hands; and yet she is completely incapable of seeing the beauty in it.

What a disappointment...I mean, who among us would not be in complete awe at finding 60 year old nudist pics of our family?

Exactly I would have it enlarged and frame it and put it up on the wall of my home. I find it so hypocritical. I mean she is of the myspace cell phone sexting generation. Flashing her boobs to her friends is fine but here is a genuine family photo from a by gone era showing her insight into her own family hsitory and she goes off like it was some gross disturbing piece of child pornography. This is where our youth are going seeing a natural photo is gross sickening sad very sad.

I wonder what happened that the Mother and or Grandmother never continued the nudist tradition with this girl. Or atleast raised her to be more open minded about differing lifestyles so she wouldn't be so "disturbed" at the site of their nudity.

Yep. If there are naturists going so far back in the family history - when naturism was not fashionable or acceptable at all - why none in the later generations? Why did she only discover it in a pile of old pictures?

Grandma was a hippie?

LOL!! Dude, the Hippies was the 60's. Beatniks were the 50's. Which corresponds to the time when Grandma, Grandpa and the kids hit the nude beach.

naturistoftheyear, it seems Grandma and Grandpa buried their nudist experiences in their past, leaving their kids with nothing more than a distant memory of it, and some pictures.

When my mind wandered back to this topic, I realized that this young woman probably would not have recognized her mother or her grandmother without being told who they were, or maybe by having already seen various pictures of them in that box of pictures.

But it could have been from the 60's, if the young woman is under 20 and her mother had her in her early 20's, makes it fourty some years ago, right in the 60's.

okay, I read the link. Grandma is 83; in her twenties with an 11 year old daughter makes it about 55 years ago, early 50's. Just about my age. Definitely not hippie.

Alfredr;

There are probably other pictures of grandma graduating from high school, college, getting married, etc. There are good reasons the young woman would recognize her grandmother's face.

I am surprised that mom's vulva was not as shocking as grandmother's bush.

If you study nudist history, you'll learn that it wasn't commercial, most parks did not advertise, and many were co-operative projects *or* were built by their members for a proprietor.

The way most people had their first nudist experience? They were invited by another couple or family member close to them.

Some tried it, some liked it, and some didn't. But, who were recruited? People like grandma and grandpa.

Also, nudism was virtually a "strictly couples and families" thing back in the 50s. Hell, it still was , when we got into it in the late 70s. So if any nudist photos survive, it's more likely going to be one that includes a nude Grandma.
