I normally walk with a textile walking group as well as my duties here. Have not been out much this year with them and had to acquaint with new friends. Sunday was a fairly warm day with some light showers in the afternoon. I decided to wear my usual custard crocks, a shorts with the lining cut out and a t-shirt. I had a furry jacked and waterproof with me. I set off with the club who were all dressed in underwear, base layers, heavy jackets, overtrousers, mittens, Balaclavas and assorted woolly hats, heavy walking boots, gaiters. The only problem I had was at lunch where I donned my furry jacked and wrapped up my legs but apart from that I was warm enough and felt the sun. When it rained my shorts became wet but soon dried out (I donned a thin waterproof then). After the walk there were some filthy, muddy walkers. All I did was wade in the river and 2 seconds later my crocks were clean and my feet and lower legs were pristine. I pity the poor walkers who when the get home have to scrub the mud off their gaiters, trousers and wash sweaty clothes. They all thought I was mad but the feeling was mutual :-) They were constantly donning and undonning layers of clothing as temperature or precipitation changed whereas my skin just adapted.
Am I crazy or just clever?
Nearing the end of the walk several members resorted to throwing snowballs at each other finding some residual snow piles. I question their sanity even further?
I look forward to our next walk together with some reasonably well balanced Somerset Strolling Bears who appreciate my sanity :-)
Love and light all!
