Bonny Doon (Santa Cruz, CA)

My first post!! Are there any of the Bonny Doon Beach folks on this list? My wife and I are heading there today for another beautiful day of nude sunbathing and hope to see some of you there!!

When I saw the name, I was figuring-Ah, a beach in Scotland. But,no!

Anyway, for those who have been-
Why is swimming not recommended? Skinnydipping is fun!

Sad too, that in the poll, 49% of voters, suggest not going there.

I don't know about the name, but the coast along there is subject to very rough water and undertows. Definitely not for the average swimmer, and help is not close.

Bonny Doon is a very nice place to be nude in the sun but it is a terrible place to swim. The water is very rough, even on the calmest days. My wife and I hope to see some of you there today!! We were there yesterday as well.

Hey There! I go to Bonny Doon all the time, although I have not been yet this year. I cant make it today, but would be interested in going in the future. I live in Santa Cruz so its not far for me.

I have fond memories of Bonny Doon. My first experience in going nude on a beach was at Bonny Doon. The first nude beach that I actually visited was another unofficial nude beach located south of Santa Cruz, but I didn't go nude that day as I was with friends who wouldn't have approved. The first nude beach that I took my wife to was Red, White, & Blue, which is located close to Bonny Doon. That is where the photo below was taken. Red, White, & Blue is no longer open to the public as a nude beach. I hope Bonny Doon is not also lost.

Do you know how Bonny Doon got its name?

No. But I know that around here "Bonnie Doon" is a local maker of ice cream. So everytime I see this thread pop up on the new messages, I get hungry.
