Many of you here may know Cheri Alexander she and her husband were vacationing in FLA when her husband had to be rushed to the hospital. Right now it appears he will recover however he will have to completely change his lifestyle in order to lie with the condition. Here is a copy of a message she sent me. Please keep her and her husband in your thoughts.
.................................................. .................................................. .......................

Glad you got on board here and the Yahoo group. My husband and I were to take our first vacation in 15 yrs starting last Sat/Sun. We arrived at my sister's place in FL 2am Sunday morning a week ago, and at 11am, he was taken to doctor who had him transported to the hospital via ambulance. It's been a scary week. We finally got a diagnosis of Ischemic Colitis, sort of a heart attack in the lower intestine. He will remain in the hospital until he is stable. I'm praying to leave here no later than Wed.

The Travelites are doing okay. I need a vacation from this week. LOL One of my SC friends Fed. Expressed my meds to me as I brought only a week's worth. I am very worried about Allen. We will totally have to change the way he/we eat plus absolutely no alcohol in any form.

Thanks for letting me ramble.
Hugs, Cheri

Cheri,

I can't imagine what you are both going through. But, rest assured that as your husband stabalzes you will both learn to live with his new dietry restrictions. Keep looking on the positive side and you will survive this.

Best wishes for everythin working out well.

I will definitely be praying as well. When time permits I'd like to hear more about this. I have ulcerative colitis and so this gave me a little jolt. My diet is good but not great and I take medicine. I should and probably will have another colonoscopy soon. I've never heard of this before. Obviously family comes first so I'll be patient.

Just received an email from Cheri regarding her husband's condition.

He is doing better. He's been taken off the IV and is eating soft foods but is still in the hospital and may be for the next day or two. It is her hope that they release him home with oral meds tomorrow but she's not sure.

She appreciates everyone's kind words and prayers and will be back on the boards after they get back home. Til then...we'll keep all their friends, here, posted via updates as we receive them. Keep those thoughts and prayers coming, they are helping.

and....yet another email this evening from Cheri:

Her husband has been released from the hospital, they have filled his prescriptions and were headed home earlier today. Lots of rest, Dr's appt's and diet changes but all your well wishes and prayers were answered. He is getting better and on his way home.

Thanks to all from Cheri.

Cheri, I haven't been on the boards for a while. So sorry to hear about your husband. It appears he is doing much better now. Take care and let us know how he comes along. I know it will be a long process, but we will keep you in our prayers for a full recovery.

Thanks FireProf for the updates. Again, I haven't been on here for awhile, so it was a shock to read this. Take care.:smoking:

We are home and getting settled. I don't think we would have arrived here as soon as we did without all of your wishes and prayers. Thanks to FP & Al for posting the updates.

Anyone want to do some mowing and laundry....all nude here? LOL I'd love to take a couple of more days off from work.

Big hugs to everyone,
Cheri

I did two loads of laundry last night. Today when I get home from work will have to use the weedeater on the volleyball court area. Yesterday I also put down some annual fire ant killer.

Hugs,

Dearest Cheri,

Very best wishes to you and the hubby and I hope the "good information" to help both he and you comes along quickly!!

I have mentioned a little about a lifestyle-altering diet I went on between February and April of 2007 in which I lost twenty-seven pounds! (27 lbs.) It was prescribed by a nutritionist and required a pretty radical shift in fundamental thinking about food, but it worked! *I did not even realize I could loose that much!!* I have written about it before on here so I won't take up space with it again.

There is also some very clear, very good information available through:
http://www.foodmatters.tv/

They have some preview clips on this site and I have seen what was reported to be an entire full-length presentation of their materials. The presentation tries to make two distinct points, ones we have all heard before but may have forgotten how much truth they contain. The first one is, "We are what we eat." The second one is, "No disease comes from a deficiency of _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _." (fill in the name of your medication or drug of choice) - - Certainly our bodies become less efficient and less tolerant of abuse as we age, but it is NEVER to late to make positive changes. I work with a guy now that looks ten years young than when I began working with him less than three years ago, and this is entirely due to improved eating habits and an anti-oxidant rich juice blend he drinks just two ounces of each morning and each evening.

I think next time I go to the grocery store I am going to load twenty-seven one pound packages of ground beef into my cart and push it around the store once; just to see what it was I "gave up".

Very best wishes to all!
