I've been working on it for a few weeks and I've finally got my new 24 foot above ground pool up and going. Now the weather has turned cool, for Alabama, lows in the mid fifties and highs only in the 70's. With wanting to get the water warm enough to get in and enjoy the pool, it'll be a couple more weeks now before that will happen, but I'll be ready for summer when it does get here.:)

Where's the pictures of you and your new pool?
Not sure, but think you can buy a heater to warm the water up.

A "solar" pool blanket (http://www.poolproducts.com/SPP/dept.asp?dept_id=1850) can help quite a bit - increasing the amount of heat gained on sunny days and insulating against heat loss at night and from evaporation.
And if you are a very ambitious do it yourself-er or have plenty of benjamins, you could look at putting in solar collectors (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=pool+solar+collectors&btnG=Search) to heat the pool and substantially extend your swimming season (also the collectors can be run at night during the hottest times in order to cool the pool).
Also - don't agree to let any of your 'backwoods' pals help 'heat up' the water. Especially if they've been drinking.

Great to know 'bama. We have the same thing and I skinny dip all the time. I don't know about you, but we have adjoining neighbors all around the back. So in order to "keep the peace", I'll wear a towel before slipping in the pool. I don't think the neighbors will like the fact I'll be out in the open on top of the deck, naked. The towel comes off when I go down the ladder. Enjoy your pool.:smoking:

Thanks Naturist Mark. Yes I have thought of getting one of the solar blankets. It makes good sense to heat it for free and keep the heat in at night. The gas fire heaters are very expensive , but the solar collector system could be a good alternative a little later.
I'm sure that I'll get a few pic's headed this way once I get to using the pool.Looking forward to it. I especially like to swim on hot summer nights, and this pool has a small light in it to give it cool illumination at night. Maybe I'll even get the wife in nude at night, but not likely through the day.
