Tan-tastic: A sunbather in Brighton soaks up the rays
Britain baked on the hottest day of the year so far over the weekend as temperatures hit 27°C (81°F).
Parts of the country were hotter than Tenerife and Nice on Sunday – and the sunshine is set to continue.
The hottest place in Britain was The Solent in Hampshire, where the mercury soared to 27°C (81°F) and the rest of the country averaged a very pleasant 23°C (73°F).

27C "heatwave" - what a joke that is, it's not a heatwave here in inland NSW Australia until the temp gets to at 35C

Better here in Finland! In my town the max temperature yesterday was 28 °C. If you are living in a warmer climate, you can say this is nothing but to us it is something. Often May and start of June are cold; hot weather (at least 25 °C) is a rarity in May. But now the forecasts are going down: in Friday we could have only 9 °C which can be said "normal" in this time of year.
Sad but I couldn't enjoy the heat naked. I waded on a local beach to test the water temperature (surely it was more than 12 °C and it could be said swimmable, at least there were children and young people who swam) but it isn't a nude beach, we haven't such. I'm looking forward to the next weekend when I'll be at my summer house on a lakeshore.

Well, here in England, it's a long time since we experienced such warm conditions! My wife and I were able to be happily naked in the garden most of the weekend, and a friend joined us naked in the sunshine on Sunday afternoon. Today looks like it's going to be just as warm, so I'm hoping for more strenuous sunbathing!

Wow 27C in the UK enjoy. We were over in the UK last year for the whole month of August. Rained everyday, highest temp must have been around 15C. The weather forecastors had a name for it "persistant rain". Visited Brighton beach 20th.-22nd. The beach was almost deserted except for a few hardy folk who braved the cold just to put a foot in the water. Also we were up at Walney Island, same Kind of weather, only people on the beach that day were the locals walking their dogs.

Wow, here in Southern California that would be a warm day during winter and sometimes a night-time low in the summer. Congratulations to all those that could enjoy it. I know that England is usually cooler then where I live so I will ask how often to you get to enjoy weather like that?

That is great. I am in Canada and was going to go to the beach for the first time this coming weekend. They are predicting only 15 C as a high and possible rain. You have to take advantage of warm days when you can get them. Looking forward to summer.

I enjoy when we have a heat wave in the states, when it stays over 90s for a few days in the summer you can get away with wearing less and people do not seem to care, bring on the hot days.

The TV weatherman for St. Louis MO stated that it was to be near 90 F on both today and tomorrow in St. Louis. It felt very hot today, but right now at 11 PM, the temperature is 73.

Last summer was awful, never got hot. But our current heatwave has only another couple of days before we revert to 'less than 20C'. The long range forecast is for hotter than usual, but they said the same last year.
And I remember a few years back going to Scotland in August. Discovered that going topless on the beach meant not wearing a wooly hat and scarf, the weather being so miserable. But the midges were still around.

Living as I do on the coast of North Wales we always have it cooler than a lot of the UK which pleases my wife if not me, I like it hot, she doesn't. But anything would be better than the summers we've had for the past two years.
Two years ago we had to travel to Worcestershire when the rain started, we couldn't get to where we were going and got cut off when we reached Ledbury. That was a terrible "summer", driving along roads which were more like rivers. We got to Upton the next day, then the river started rising and the town was then cut off completely for days.
