Hey all,
I am a naturist - I go to Florida resorts and nude beaches everywhere whenever I can - but that is not why I am writing.
I am also a professional photographer. I need to shoot a nude model this week or next. She wants to go to a nude beach for this - I'm fine with that. I can shoot and keep other people out of the shots.
Her boyfriend does not want me to go naked, for some reason - so I guess it'll have to be a CO beach or area.
Problem is: Hanlan's Beach is, as far as I know, inaccessible without the ferry.
Does anyone know a spot where I can photograph her in the nude? I am OK if I have to go naked - the boyfriend will have to just deal with it - but I suppose clothing optional would be better.I;ve shot this model on railway tracks etc before, but would prefer if I did not run the risk of arrest or being run over by a train. Anywhere I can go naked discreetly , as close as possble to west Toronto?
Any advice welcome - thanks.
Cheers
Mike

I might be missing something, but are you and or your model afraid of water? Hanlan's is only accessible by ferry, but it only takes about 10 minutes and is inexpensive. Then there's another 10 minute walk when you get to the island to the beach. That's your best bet.
Otheriwise, you could call Bare Oaks which is very near Newmarket. Identify yourself and your credentials, explain your situation, and you may be able to get a day pass & rate. So long as your photo shoot is *not* pornographic, you may get the OK. (Bare Oaks is a family-focused naturist campground and facility.)

The ferry is not operating what with the municipal strike: that's the problem!
The shoot is definitely not pornographic. But it doesnot pay enough to cover transport to Newmarket, alas... far from it I am afraid.
Thanks though... keep the ideas coming...
Cheers,
Michael

proshooter, the ferries are not working due to the strike, but there are supposed to be tour boat operators taking people across. Undoubtedly will cost more than the normal ferry service, but you may want to check it out if you have not already done so. Good luck.

OK.. thanks. Sounds good.
Anyone have a link, or any idea how to get to these tour boats? And how about getting back? :-)

Hi, I'm from Toronto, and I'm a newbie. I'm wondering how to Halan's Point Nude Beach, like the TTC routes, the amount that I would have to pay to use the ferry. Is it right beside centreville? Are there are any nude beaches in scarborough?

For everyone's info, the strike is over and the ferries are running again. Here is some info on the beach itself:
Wikipedia Hanlan's Point Beach (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanlan%27s_Point_Beach) article
Here is some info on the Ferry and the Toronto Islands, including the ferry schedule:
Toronto Island Park (http://www.toronto.ca/parks/island/index.htm)
and here is a map of the Toronto Island (http://www.toronto.ca/parks/pdf/island/toronto_island_map.pdf). Hanlan's clothing optional beach is on the right. You can see its not to far from the Centreville Amusement Park.
Take a subway to Union Station, walk south down Bay Street as far as you can and enter the ferry terminal behind the hotel you see there. $6.50 gets you a return ticket, which you immediately give to the ticket taker. (Just get on any return ferry afterwards. They don't require tickets for the ride back.) Make sure you take the Hanlan's ferry, not the more crowded Wards or Centre Island ferries, otherwise you will have to walk a long way. When you get to the island just follow the crowd. Most will be going to the beach. There are signs to guide you and a big map displayed at the Island end (just keep right.) It is at least a 10-15 minute walk, so you should think twice about carrying a heavy cooler, glass bottles, beach chair etc. Lots of people roller blade, rent or bring their own bikes. I just walk.
There are no other charges. You can buy water or refreshments there, and you can rent lounge chairs and/or beach umbrellas if you wish.
I don't know about Scarborough beaches, although I think a part of the bluffs are unofficially sometimes used for nude sunbathing. You might get hassled if you try it however so it is best to talk to someone more connected with that then I.
Looking once again at the title of this thread, I shouldn't need to remind anyone that is is best to ask before photographing anyone, of course!
Hope this helps you, daily0321.
